    3000 dead Frenchies and counting

apparently, the heat is thinning the herd. But in this whole article, the largest temperature I could find was:
Record-high temperatures have been set in numerous cities across France, and the capital has baked under heat at or exceeding 98 degrees.
    ummm..... 98 fucking degrees?

Are these people pussies or what? 98 degrees? Come on.... that's just stupid. If 98 degrees kills you, you probly deserved to be dead anyway.

Well.. 98 degrees is the same temperature as the inside of your mouth.. they say if the outdoors reaches the exact same temperature (keep in mind this happends only once every million years) but that your body will shrivell up and die.

it's not just the heat......it's the unbearable body odor gathering in the cities! This is a culture that is highly suspicious of soap and deoderant

Nothing to fuck with if you are used to temps around 80 max all your life. Here in Germany we had the highest temperatures ever measured, roughly 110 three days ago.

I bet it was mostly old and weak people who died of exhaustion.

doesn't help much if you're old and susceptible to heat illness.

                              I dont get it either.

What kind of human weakness is that? The BODy is 98 fucking degrees hahaha

jokes aside, it gets way hotter than that here, dry fucking heat and only a couple old people die, but its a lot hotter than that France shit.

                                        yeah stereotypes are always wrong.

Japanese aren't fond of cameras and they're not bad drivers.

                                        No...stereotypes are NEVER true.

I actually went running outside for an hour at noon last sunday. 108 outside, no clouds, on the track. It was fun.

It's ok, not worse than regular summer pollution in CA but with no air movement.

A buddy who works a the 'Pompidou' hospital though is going through hell, average of 3-4 heat related deaths a night of elderly patients. All French hospital staff on holliday are going to be recalled for the 'white plan' intended for terorist situations but here for the heat wave.

we hit 110+ here every summer. Elder people suffer, but since a/c is available near everywhere we have very few losses.
105+ its common the last decade. But if we hit 120+ which is the equivalent to what France has now we'll see many deaths.

The important thing here is that the U.S. does not do anything on it's own regarding this situation. Everyone knows that if we were to send them a bunch of AC units that it would simply be another example of thinly disguised American Imperialism.

Hardcore village people. Distant relatives I have never met.

Worked outside installing ductwork and insulation in the Arizona sun, without A/C. I passed out a few times from heat exhaustion, but hey... 115 outside usually meant inside the duct tube was around 160. Plus I was working, hammering shit and crawling around and all that. If someone keels over in 98 degrees simply sitting there without any exertion, it was probably their time to go. Not having A/C is a lame excuse. How long has A/C been around? What did people do before A/C? How did the human race ever survive?

My mother in law had simply never been in that kind of heat at all and got sick. People don't have AC because it has never been hot enough for more than two days a year to need it.

I bet most of those people that died were old people. Even that happens back in the states. Every year in Philly they would find old people who died because they didn't have AC and they would have fan drives.

which makes for a clear case of natural selection. What I find humorous in all this is how their government is getting the blame...

France?s worst heat wave on record has killed an estimated 3,000 people across the nation, the Health Ministry said Thursday, as the government faced accusations that it failed to respond to a major health crisis.
                                                                                              1. Like the fucking government can do ANYTHING about the weather.
                                                                                              2. these people were 70 - 90 years old. Pretty much dying time anyway by all current standards. If the heat didn't kill them, they'd have died soon anyway from something else.

                                                                                              anyway....

you don't need A/C to survive heat. Drink lots of water, stay hydrated, take cool showers or sit in a freaking plastic pool with some cool water in it and sip some damn lemonade. If you lock yourself in an un-air conditioned apartment and sit there and sweat out till you got nothing left, you're probly gonna die.
