Banning a book with nude photos of a porn star would be a bit different than banning a book because of controversial words. Does your library loan out XXX DVDs?

You're kidding right? What's a woman's version of a porno? A "romance" novel. These things are just as naughty as any porno movie, but it's all in words instead of pictures. Suppose the little kiddies get a hold of those! Yet, they are in most public libraries and no one seems to give a shit about them. Now a porn star writes an autobiography and suddenly we're gaining a conscience over this material? I call "BULLSHIT!"

Romance novels generally come with 1 pic, and that is on the front cover and I have never seen one that shows genitalia. Lot's of libraries didn't stock Sex by Madonna even though at least 1 set of "advocates" forced a city's library to stock the picture book chock full of male and female frontal nudity and simulated sex acts.

The article doesn't say how explicit the pics from Jenna's career or the ones taken especially for the book are, but I would imagine they are not "artistic" ones with palm tree leaves cleverly barely covering nipples and vaginas. Perhaps if the book had a special library edition minus the picture section it would pass the librarian test. The reviews I've read online says that there is explicit and detailed sex talk, so if you think the library should be required to carry it should you be OK with the library stocking stuff like First Hand, a gay book of JO stories which features pics such as men with big cocks in crotchless chaps

I'm not being prudish nor would it matter to me one way or the other if my local library carried the book, I just understand and accept why they would not. There is no "right" to pornography at a public library. If you want to see pics of a naked porn star visit your local adult shop or go online.

yup, this is a slippery slope al right:

""""I don't think we should just order (any) books," Holm said. "It should go through a review process, and those books that are inappropriate for children should be in a place where children don't have access to them.""""

I love it when freaks like Holm show the world who they are

No matter what you say, censorship is wrong!

So where does it stop? Let me guess, the shelves of a library should only adorn bibles.

                            Who suggested that?

Most (if not all) public libraries wouldn't put Jenna's movies out on the shelf, why should an explicit book with pictures from those same movies bypass a library's policy of not stocking porn?

Madonna didn't succede in getting porn into the library and if the photos in the book are explicit Jenna isn't going to either. It's not a censorship thing, it's just common decency. Want porn? It's not censored, it's quite easy to get.

View it how you wish ... to deny a person the option of choosing for them self is censorship.
Does the library have a section on sex? In that section is there a book on sexual positions. Or the anatomy of the human body? And what about the art or photography section?
Madonna's box was not porn BTW, it was classified as erotic art.

So your libraries up in Canada carry playboy and the likes do they? I must have missed the part where cheeseheads were able to influence US policies of any kind...

uh, real nice - at no point did I bring up the Canada-USA 'thing' that everyone likes to bitch about, nor have I ever insulted the US, but go right ahead.

All I am saying is censorship is bad and is viewed no differently from burning a book. As for what is at the libraries in Canada ... lots of stuff.

Nope, not at all - see I was merely being polite by asking/verifying whom you were referring to as the idiot, me or the Nazi Holm. You say me, fine - that is what makes some parts of the world great - everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

As you believe my chatter is meaningless you have stated that you agree with censorship -- sorry to see that, but that your choice.

All I am saying is censorship is bad and is viewed no differently from burning a book. As for what is at the libraries in Canada ... lots of stuff.
Censorship is absolutely different than burning a book. It was PORN. PORN does not belong in libraries. Keeping PORN out of public libraries is not censorship, it's common sense.

What exactly is "lots of stuff"... have you even been to a public library lately?

The book is not porn, it is an autobiography, which receives rave reviews and some classify as the best todate. Read a review

Yes, there are some explicit pictures as are in many other books in the library, in Canada or wherever. Just visit the photography section, let alone the many other areas with 'porn'.

As for 'common sense': not using a hairdryer while in the tub is common sense. Censors denying an autobiography, written partly by a porn queen, the right to sit on a shelf along with many other books is censorship.

Guess I am the only one that believes our industry is not evil and deserves the same rights of many others.

Everyone thinks porn is cool but will anyone stand up for it or try to view it from a fair or equal angle ... apparently not.

Again, that is correct, and the person on the crusade, Holm, has not read the book.

Stating that there was a fine line between Jameson's book being a best seller and porn, Holm, who has not read the book, said she would not support porn and make it accessible to children.

So she classified it as porn with out even giving it half a chance, let alone being fair.

Some people get offended seeing women in bikinis. I have no problem with it, but then what I consider acceptable some people may not.

It's been a while but the last photo books I looked thru weren't explicit in any sense of the word and rarely showed genitalia if at all.

I'm not saying she has a bad book. I'm saying it's one I don't think should be in a public library. I think a lot of stuff shouldn't be in a public library, and it's not. That's just MY opinion. My ideas changed a lot when I became a father 17+ years ago.
