Afganastan never blew up any buildings either, but they harboured and supported people who did. In both cases it wasnt the country the US was after. It was the openly anti American regemes that ran them.

Iraq waqs run by a ruthless dictator who hated the US. He never kept the agreements he made in the first gulf war, and he openly supported terrorism. He paid $25,000 rewards to families of suicide bombers for example. The only mistake the US made was they should have got rid of him in the first war.

Sure thats what he wanted. He expected a long drawn out war like his glory days fighting the Russians. He would be a star again instead of an old has been running ragged training camps.
