If rebooting fixes your problem everytime then you most likely have a memory leak. Make sure you have enough ram, 64mb minimum, 128 recommended, and that your memory is good. You might want to check and see what programs are running in the background when this problem occurs.
I always get this after burning disks or running large applications. Win2k may manage memory best but it isn't perfect. Leaks happen.
