    online check vs credit card

Does anybody know how many Americans have checking accounts compared to Credit Cards. I think I read somewhere that more people have checks that credit cards.

I know that if Credit Cards for adult get the plug pulled on them online checks would only cover american and canadian users, but most signups seem to come from the US anyhow.

Also people know any check processors that only deal in checks? That way I don't have to worry about them closing down because they got hit with a 5,000,000 fine from Visa.

why don't processors setup a seperate company to process cheques? credit card processing looks fairly risky right now.

That is why I want to find a check only processor, so I don't have to worry about them getting screwed in the near future by Visa mastercard.

If adult processing is pulled, people will still want porn. And where there is a demand there has to be a supply. If that means online check I would rather have a good option in place before the shakedown happens.

I setup ACH on my sites last week and they are doing great for me. So far it seems at least 30% of my sales are checks but I want to see how many don't bounce

            Hi,

Our chekc/ach program is exceptional. We charge only 3.35% and 40¢ per transaction and $20 per month. Compare that to what other adult processors are charging. You will not need to worry about Netbilling going anywhere as all of our merchant have thier own merchant accounts for credit card processing so Netbilling is not at risk in any way. This is why so many are switching to uas for credit card processing as well.

In addition to our great scrubbing tools, we also provide the option to have Starcheck and Experian on your checks whcih verify that the checking account actually exists and has a positive balance as well as that the name address and phone # match.

If you are interested, pleasae contact our sales department for more info and/or post here.

            Thank you, Mitch Farber

Using checks exclusively is unlikely to compensate for CC transactions from my experience.

If there is no Credit Card option, I think checks would play a bigger role.

Too many dishonest surfers online. They sign up with online checks and about half of them bounce two weeks later. Keep that in mind.

50% will bounce when accepting online checks.

There seems to be many different ways to accept online checks. CCBill, with whom I am extremely happy after Globill seem to accept them in the run of the mill way. Many checks go bad, so I don't use there check accepting facility. Globill, bless there cotton socks, used to offer an option whereby no access to the site was granted until the check had cleared. That worked real well. Another processor which I looked at after the Globill meltdown offered two ways to accept checks, one bog standard like CCbill, another had a higher commission, but no checks could bounce. Can't for the life of me remember the processors name now.

The point is, it pays to search around if you want to offer checks as an alternative to CC.

We have had good experiences with checks.
Sure, alot of them bounce, but these fuckers can recurr forever.

I was going through stats last year, an avg check signup in 98 was worth a total of something like $110, and still going.
Sure its not THAT good anymore, but still, cc #s wont even come close to that.

If I was to recommend a check processor, WTS would be it.

Sure, alot of them bounce, but these fuckers can recurr forever.

I was going through stats last year, an avg check signup in 98 was worth a total of something like $110, and still going.
Sure its not THAT good anymore, but still, cc #s wont even come close to that.

If I was to recommend a check processor, WTS would be it.
my experience has been the opposite. i find cheques don't usually stick around that long. get the odd cc rebilling for years tho.

Btw, is there a charge back problem with checks too ?

( someone charging back a valid transaction for some stupid reason )
                                              I don't use ICQ anymore.

                                                Mitch:

In addition to our great scrubbing tools, we also provide the option to have Starcheck and Experian on your checks whcih verify that the checking account actually exists and has a positive balance as well as that the name address and phone # match.
Mitch, have you considered developing a sort of mail order based system which includes sending out invoices using the above checks for validation? This was discussed in a thread recently by KRL who is experimenting with such a system... the reason for it being in case things go belly up with (adult) CC processing in future which is quite a high possibility!

what do you think of such a solution?

Here is the thread if you missed it:

8-10 % it is whats giving a returned check at least with ccbill and to be honest if you take one look at the signups most of them with a stolen check book etc can be filtered out, somehow they always use the same stupid logins and passes.

We took checks offline for a while because some idiot managed to subscribe every day with a check and got a returned check every day, ccbill blocked his ZIP not the best way but it works.

Plus : returned checks arent chargebacks. I wouldnt wanna take online checks away they still do great.

We have used epoch/ccbill in the past for checks. They suck! 98%of our checks were bouncing.
Relunctantly, we started using Probill for direct check. They are the only third party company with this feature. Funds instantly removed from surfers account. Weekly bank wires. Probilling is fantastic for ach.
