The last time I saw a bitch getting beatup by her man she was begging him to stop and wanted me to help, so I walk over and get this guy to stop beating on her and challenge him to take me on. But before we could go at it a cop pulls up to see whats going on and the bitch turns and says I stared a fight with her man and that he never hit her. Stupid slut almost got me arrested, luckily the cop knew who they were and told me they had responded to plenty of domestic abuse calls from those 2 morons. But when the cops arrive she says nothing happened and won't press charges. By the time this whole mess was cleared up I wanted to beat her ass too and the cop yelled at me for even getting involved!

Undutchable is right for wanting to make it stop.
Fletch et al are right in saying she'd probably have beaten on you as well had anything happened and would've told the cops nothing happened, you started the whole thing.
Abused women are fucked in the head - BY the man... and they know that if shit goes down they'd better say he's totally innocent or the next time they're alone she'd gonna get it twice as bad.
And no matter what you tell her or where you take her, she's convinced he'll find her. And when he finds her, the beating she'll get will put her in the hospital and he won't just stop there, he'll also go after her sister, her best friend - anyone who was helping her. It's that fear that keeps her from running... not so much that she'll get it again, but that someone she cares about will get hurt.
It's an awful situation to be in. I've been there, on both sides.
Undutchable, ya did good. Get a cell phone though so if this ever happens again you can call the police and give them every little detail. You'll still have done a world of good even if your fists are itching to put themselves through someone's skull.
A punching bag hanging in the garage is good for times like this.
