Cool thing is in the Hollywood book I found a bookmark the person used before me (i picked this up at a thriftstore in hollywood for 3 bucks) it had a Henry Miller postcard tucked inside of it on the last page.
Heres a cam pic of the post card, of Henry Miller in his study.
he sat naked and drunk in a room of summer night, running the blade of the knife under his fingernails, smiling, thinking of all the letters he had received telling him that the way he lived and wrote about that--
it had kept them going when all seemed truly hopeless.
nice line...don't know if it is true, but still a nice line ;-)
well...I do know...it is true if you are at the bottom of a bottle and at the end of a drunk...
but I think at the end of a drunk, your word is shot. so maybe not so true even here.
otherwise, of course we got a few other things in this world in addition to our drink and our words.
or am I missing something? maybe it means the only thing that is true to us is drink and words. even if our words are lies and the drink deceives us...that is probably it ;-)

only room for more drinks.
and words.
well...I don't mean to sound cynical. It is just it is a very romantic idea....words and drink. But what is he getting at? Of course he is getting at illusions....words and drinks create illusions. But it is ultimately a corrosive illusion.
no need to change the "we" to "I" since it is a syndrome we all share ;-)
