I had an argument with a woman once who said "why do all you people fight for animal rights when no one's fighting for children's rights?"
I asked her what the fuck she fought for. Turned out it was nothing, she just sat on her ass and complained. It's a whole lot easier to tell other people what to believe in then it is to actually do anything yourself.
I don't see anything "backwards" about standing up for what you think it right.
