I believe other pagerank checker threads and stuff are what caused all this crapOriginally posted by KingK7
On a crusade, are we?
Only thing you've accomplished with this thread is 50 newbies trying to have a go at this...
Jeez...Spam link hereComment

they shall register all those domains, since there are tools available for getting pr. it wont help most of them.
i see those pr newbies everyday hunting for those domains that i left over the day before - because they are bad and might even LOWER the value of my pages. even in this thread are a some postings that irritate me. many domains listed are not pr domains anymore. neither the toolbar pr nor the backlinks show the real pr.
go and spend your money on http://www.edmundscientific.com/ et al and pray that at least a few names are of value

SexyAds has knocked a few off for spamming. While we hate to do it cause it's pissing money away, we can't say we're a quality program if we don't. We dumped a guy today for spamming ICQ, can you believe it?
What kind of a moron spams ICQ ?Comment

When you have people selling PR machines on GFY, that's when you have to start worrying about newbies going nuts. If I am new to this biz and I read this thread I wold think TWICE about doing something stupid. Because these guys are going to start to lose their sponsors and any money they thought they had earned - this is going to happen no later than today.
BTW these guys are not newbies by any stretch of the imagination, from some of the strategies I see there I think they've been around the block a few times. Please don't equate newbies and idiots.Comment

Self appointed SEguru might be on to something.
It turns my stomach though when I read his sig:
Expired Domains in GOOGLE, YAHOO!, DMOZ, INKTOMI, LOOKSMART! Get SE Listings NOW!
Interesting spam technique you've got going SEguru.
You're playing God and the Devil in same thread

Im with ya all the way on the theory, but this will never change regardless of how many boards or programs you get involved.
it can happen so many ways ...
guy has this damn domain sitting on server collecting dust for years, hears about anal sex pays big, and BAM its a redirect.
Also i beleive not a whole hell of alot of sponsors are going to give a shit. They may say they do but would only take action if backed into a corner.

He should maybe start looking at his seguru.net and try to work his magic. It has PR3.Originally posted by Marc P
He's an old school high level SEO, he's been around a very very long time. His reputation is about as good as it gets in this industry.
If I remember correctly he once launched a link popularity scheme where people would exchange links? Hidden link to a gateway file with all the other member's URLs. How did that go?

seguru.net as a service has not been around that long to gather big PR, at least I don't think it has been up for more than 2 months.Comment

I agree.
It seems a bit like tobacco shops asking the government to sue Philip Morris for spreading cancer.

That was a good idea, and worked fine for a while (back in 99, I think). It worked because altavista algo was much based on link popularity (in which only the number of links pointing to you matters), whereas google is based on page rank (quality of links, instead of quantity, matters more).Comment

I had one site participating in that spider trap, it´s PR0 now.
I just would like to add some comments about this subject.
Situation 1) webmaster buys expired domain (using, e.g., SEGuru.net) and uses it to promote unrelated porn material
Situation 2) a webmaster builds and maintains a site, other good sites link to it *because of the content of the original site*. Then, for whatever reason (which could be as simple as forgetting to renew), the domain goes expired, someone re-register it, and uses the site for the sole purpose of exploiting the Page Rank.
Situation 1) is questionable, of course.
But doesn´t anybody see anything ethically questionable on situation 2? The new register will be profiting on the efforts of the original webmaster (who managed to create an interesting enough site which deserved good links) AND will be abusing the good faith of the folks who linked to the original site (and probably won´t be told that the content has changed). Is this really much different from the Situation 1?
Just an attempt to take a broader look at the problem.Comment

sure, you are right, but say someone is buying http://www.alphi.org/ [PR7] and redirects to porn sites. maybe some of the backlinks are kids sites or church sites - it is better to have a link at the bottom than to smack 10 popups right into the face of someone.
btw. a little help:
- why did tgp bulk submitters become available to the public? because they were not of much value anymore to private holders.
- why did avs bulk submitters become available? same as above.
- why are pr checkers available? wont work as it did.
- why do you think i post links to unregistered pr7 domains? no value.
of couse some will claim they still have succes with pr domains. do not reveal your secrets here ;) i believe you then there still are ways. to get pr domains you have to go with rrp or bd. just go and waste your money, but worse get sued.
sorry, if i kill someones business model of selling pr software or pr domain lists ;)Signature Spot - USD 5000 / monthComment
