They're the active X deals that popup and say "do you want to install the cool xxx search bar" and shit like that. If the surfer chooses to download and install, you get a few cents.
Then the surfer has a search bar added into their IE, and usually their home page changes to go along with it.
That's what I meant by the guilt, because I hate the damn things personally.
