Easy. you work with Visa you buy yourself more time, you work around visa and you go belly up. Using that info you should easily be able to predict the next 2 going under.

They will ALL go, one at a time....

Visa and/or Mastercard will find something that will either make them non-compliant or will hit them with such enormeous amount that they will go belly up.

The billers that run a decent and honest business, and stop trying to fuck around with loopholes in the Visa and MC rules will do just fine.

I think CCBill, Epoch and perhaps IBill (if they can get their heads out of their asses) will be just fine. It's the guys who aren't in touch with Visa regularly through their merchant bank that are in trouble. A sign of that is if they say things like "US and EU Visa rules don't apply to us", or "New Visa/Mastercard requirements? Never heard of 'em.", or "1% cb requirement? Doesn't apply to us." Those are the guys whose days are number.

The statement that all IPSPs are going to eventually go away is ridiculous. Visa needs the IPSPs for about 2 dozen different reasons - good third party processors are a key part of Visa and MC business plans to ensure that they have most e-commerce locked up, I am sure. (otherwise phone companies, big e-merchants like Amazon, and internet service providers would fill the gap with payment solutions of their own) Good IPSPs are perfect for Visa, and perfect for small internet merchants.

We just have to weed out the crooks and liars, which Visa and the good IPSPs are doing.

It's unfortunate that a lot of good sites were with Globill, who thought they could escape the push to minimize chargebacks and internet fraud by setting up in the Carribean.

I think the LONGTERM future is bright for adult e-commerce.

Just think how many more sales we will all get once surfers gain confidence that they can join adult sites and not get ripped off.

gothweb - Not all Globill users are shady webmasters. I run an honest business but as a Canadian, setting up a US corp is a huge pain in the ass. Just to fill out the W7 & get my ITIN, I'll need to drive 3 hours to a US embassy to get a copy of my passport made & notarized.

It's not as simple as filling out a form online & charging my Visa.

To Gothweb: reverse the roles and let's say the US sites would have to have a Canadian Corp and deal with dual tax treaties ...
I received a " check book" looking thing from the IRS... have no idea and accountants here do accounting for Canadians. So you are pretty loose on your judgement.

To Kcat: yes, you can do all this on line. Click on the sig, take a look. You will need to fax a copy of your passport. Ask and pay for them to get your EIN nimber. Cost of setup in Delaware is about 400.00, then yearly about $ 125.00 .

directfiesta - Apparently the rules have changed as of January 2003. I need an ITIN before I can get an EIN. The IRS website says that a US notary needs to see the real passport in person & then notarize that the photocopy is accurate.

If I just send in a copy of my passport, can Ailcorp notarize it?

As of obtaining ITIN - you have to file form W-7 then sent it to IRS along with copy of your ID [i.e. passport] notarized by U.S. notary public. You can also send original documents - it will be returned at no cost.

I saw that too. I made my Corp in Oct. 2002, but hadn't sent the form for the EIN. I just did it on the 11th of june 2003. They ask from me :

" If you are a non-resident alien please include a photocopy of your passport or driver's license..."

I faxed them a straight scan of my passport. Took about 7 days. I received tons of shit, including some remittance forms...
