Belief is to "accept as true or real" -- which is easy to do. I can teach a parrot to believe in God in that case. If a God exists -- I think you should attempt to "know" God -- which would involve identifying a physical sensation... that you associated w/ something that you did that you considered God-ly or God-like -- thus associating that *feeling* with God or your perception of what God is to you -- a physical sensation is our only way to perceive our existance... language is only our interpretation of our physical sensations -- even if we had some way to sense the "spiritual" -- it could only be identified by us through a physical sensation. If you say "God" that may or may not make you feel a certain way -- but it has no meaning whatsoever unless you feel something when you say the word -- however subtle that may be.
Anyway that's my problem w/ the Bible and religion -- it's just a bunch or words -- and people forget what words really are -- if you're deaf and blind -- does that mean that you are going to hell because you don't understand what "Jesus Christ" means? It seems unlikely that a God would depend so heavily on something as trivial as a book...
If we burned every bible on the planet, would God cease to exist? No I don't think so -- which proves to me that, if God exists, we don't need the bible or organized religion to reach God.
Maybe I had too much shitty wine ;) haha Damn I got a HUGE 1.5L bottle of wine at Costco for only $4.50!
