Paysite Owners: Name Your Best and Worst Plugin Content

I'm researching paysite members area content, looking at several members areas of medium size and 'big boy' operators it looks like the theory is 'everything but the kitchen sink' - pages and pages of links to tons of different plugins.

i'm checking the plugins out and most are pure shit from a surfers point of view - video feeds which aren't hosted on streaming media servers, just WMV and RM files embedded in HTML. This just doesn't work. If you gave the surfer the ability to actually download the file to his hard drive then i could see those kind of plugins having some merit. Ibroadcast feeds - to me as a surfer, completely useless. Fills up a members area but does it do anything to keep a member?

So to you guys who have quality paysites which plugins do you believe actually help retain a member? Are there plugins that your members have actually told u via email or survey that they particularly enjoy and are a major reason they have remained members?

i love Bubble Girls, to me that's something different and of high quality. There must be lots of other good ones, just don't have time to check every one of them out.

Also good if you have a teen or amateur site is Global Girls Gallery from Python. AEBN feeds also pretty good. Socal Streams also good. Hustler very good.

Gimme the quality ones and the ones that are pure shit that are only there cuz they're cheap and fill things out.

Mutt I don't believe in plugins for the exact reasons you just mentioned. My best converting pay sites are all exclusive content and my CB's are .004%

I can not think of any plug ins that jump to the top. Bubble girls is too fake these days, non us girls, and fake squirting. Also, too few plug ins are updated.

If you are thinking of coming out with a plug in, good luck. Paysite owners are cutting expenses left and right.

dude there are webmasters who are retired with millions in the bank who never spent any money on content, plugin or exclusive. That day is almost over.

The big players for the most part have had success with the 'everything but the kitchen sink' approach, throw enough stuff at the customers, they're bound to find a few things they enjoy. It's the only model that can work when you're putting up
50 different niche paysites and paying out webmasters 40 bucks a signup.

I'm looking for the few quality plugins that might actually make a difference and are worth the investment. Surfers are smarter and more discriminating - pretty sure they see filler content for what it is - crap. Just want the stuff that might make a difference.

Yes it is expensive but the rewards far outweigh the costs -
1. Happy members who rebill
2. Happy affiliates because of the above
3. Very low CB's of .004%

I have 7 pay sites and 3 of them are 100% exclusive content. The other 4 are not and you can see the difference between the two by comparing rebills and CB ratios. At least that is what I see on mine.

I didn't start off with exclusive because of the costs involved but as the other 4 plus my AVS sites made money I invested that into exclusive content to launch the others.

The 3 are now profitable and I buy new exclusive content every week for updates.

I'm still looking for a decently priced teen hardcore supplier and in time I will find what I'm looking for

nope, not coming out with a plugin, investigated it and came to same conclusion. quality or crap - webmasters aren't buying plugins and those that are want discounts so deep not really worth it.

BubbleGirls is back shooting in the US shooting American chicks. But the updating of BubbleGirls is erratic at best.

if you like to keep some members you may try some online games... I currently use on my members area the games from www.xamo.com.... they are very good and addictive.. I myself play them everyday I can they are a good and cheap way to entertrain your members...

I don't see anything wrong with them as long as they are just an add on to exclusive content.

We use a couple of plugins just to make the members area look bigger than it actually is ... but the exclusive stuff is what keeps them there.

The surfers seem to dig Electra Content but I'm not sure how long that will last cuz it's our second month open and their update for July was pretty weak... I hope August will be better or we may have to go shopping too.

Some good points in this thread. I wouldn't mind some of you who are "anti-plugin" going in and checking out our shit, I'd like to hear some honest opinions. Our game feeds have always been popular, and help with long retentions. Our video feeds are 128k,256k, and 512k, and are all color corrected and have really nice interfaces. We add 5 feeds a month, AND update many of the feeds every month (so you've got tons of fresh shit every month).

I'm trying not to plug here, but trying to hopefully seperate our feeds from the shit that's out there, I agree many plugins that exist are crap. We try to go above and beyond those problems, I personally think plugins are the way to go, because users can't download your movies (yes ours are "true" streaming, and protected) which forces them to rebill to keep viewing your members area.

Thoughts?

One advantage of being a designer is I get to draw from hundreds of people's experiences on what's working and what's not rather than just my own corner of the world. What I've seen with plug-in vs. exclusive is this:

1) You can absolutely make money doing it with plug-ins but you do have to follow the "everything and the kitchen sink" approach as mentioned above. You also have to organize the content in such a way that the stuff with the best response is getting featured properly and the rest is just to wow the member with options.

2) Exclusive content helps but it's by a measurable amount and if your cost of producing that content is very high, you will have to have quite a bit of money to float you until you reach a return on investment. Also exclusive stuff is much more effective when it's MPEG content rather than pictures.

So, based on my experiences anyway, I'd say that the decision to go exclusive is a financial one and that having plugins in the site too never hurts. You can make plenty of money with no exclusive content but you will make more if you have it. So if you're budget is smaller or you can't find a way to shoot exclusive stuff cheaply, start with plugins and reinvest earnings until you can add some exclusive stuff. If you can instead find a way to shoot your own material right from the start, do everything you can to make it cost effective or be prepared to need a good sum of money to float you until you turn profit.

Final comment: I do keep data wherever possible on user response to plug-ins so if you want to find out which ones I'm seeing are having the greatest impact on retention , shoot me an email.
