This in a nutshell is the real problem in this industry. The snake oil salesmen have somehow convinced themselves that they are clever marketers and businessmen. Back in the real world, anyone with a shred of "normal" business ethics would look at these stratagies and know that they are fundamentally wrong.
On a separate note, has anyone ever looked at the T & C's of almost every free or paid trial site out there. You will usually find the cancellation terms somewhere around word 1,000 +, usually prededed by the standard Copyright...you will not share these pictures...blah blah blah. Even the most diehard legal beagle will close the page long before they get to the part which tells them that their trial most likely needs to be cancelled and sometimes 24 hours before end of trial, to avoid rebill.

The 198,657 was clickthrus so lets assume you had at least 850,000 uniques(don't know many people who would visit a 5 console page more than once).
850,000 / 11 = 77272 x .15 = $11590

I joined AFF a long time ago before I started promoting it to see what it was. The join is really free. They don't ask you for a credit card. With your free join you can post your profile and look at 2-3 ( I can't remeber exactly ) women's profiles a day. You can also go into the chat rooms and chat with people but if the profile has a pic you have to buy a membership to see the pic and I don't think you can reply or send message to women without a membership. I bought a 1 month membership just to see if it worked and what was out there. I sent out about 30 emails to women members based on their profiles and got I think 2 responses that were legit women. The rest either didn't respond or responded saying " I have some more pics of me on my website go here to check them out " and it was an avs site. If you are wondering which FPA works best for me...go to Large Standalone Banners. The second FPA ad is what I use. All images are served by AFF. Simply cut and paste the page into your own blank page. (Believe me, the addition of any text simply decreases conversions).

The main reason I'm asking is because I started sending some exit traffic to AFF and the conversions were crap compared to my usual conversion from SE traffic (which is around 1 in 11 or 12), so I stopped sending exit traffic before it completely screwed my conversions. If I thought AFF would let me stay on the per signup I would have kept sending the exit traffic.
Incidentally, I was doing exactly the same as you with the FPA
