I'm gonna try it. None of that Atkins crap. 15 pounds in 60 days through a little daily workout and 1600 calories a day. I weigh 213 today and I am 6'2. I am built pretty big so 198 would be a decent weight. Anyway, how many of you think I am going to fail miserably? I'm gonna post a weekly update or something here. Maybe I can post before and after pictures once its over

Doc said lose weight or die!
I lost 25 lbs in 30 days from not eating takeout and not drinking pop.
Still dropping.
stop eating take-out
stop putting buffet's out of business
stop stealing children's ice cream cones in front of dairy queen
stop poaching cows on farms at night and eating them raw (better than fried i guess)
stop poaching whales for their blubber cuz he says it tastes good
stop eating the hair from his big toe when he gets the munchies
stop eating the worms from the toilet bowls of public restrooms
the list goes on... in the odd case that you have the same disorder, then i'd stop doing all of the above as well....
good luck ma man!Crypto HODLr

No, not fuck the diet. I'm doing a mathematical formula that makes it impossible for me to not lose 15 pounds within 60 days.
Metabolism + workout calories - food = calories burned per day
That number should be 52500 combined after 60 days for meComment

No, I like carbs too much. I love french fries, bread, etc. No way in hell I am giving that up.
I think you got the right mental attitude and approach to it, so you will achieve what you want if you stick to your plan.
Your formula looks good to me, just watching what you eat, and more exercise should give results - jogging is my fav exercise, just got back from a 15k jog

Only advice I can give you is:
It takes a lot of fucking hard work to lose weight.
If a diet seems to good to be true, take it with a grain of salt. Water diets and what not get results quick, but they aren't long term results.
Cut down your calorie intake while eating healthier; exercise between commericals, dont give yourself a break where you're just doing nothing. 20 pushups might not seem like alot, but it adds up. Dont forget cardio, too, jogging is a great way to lose some lbs

how do you know how much muscle you are losing in relation to fat? how do you know how much muscle you are gaining by exercising and lifting weights.
there is no formula.
just patience and consistency.
its not about "losing fat" .... its about a change in lifestyle.
good luck!

Just going for long walks works great, but it'll probably take longer than 60 days. Make it a daily routine (or twice daily) to do 3-10 miles or so. It only hurts the first couple times. I lost 8-9 pounds or something the last month dragging my ass around the lake, without having to change what I eat much at all. I'm still kinda miserable and need to lose probably 40 pounds more, but I feel great.
I'd recommend this to anyone.

BTW, I'm gonna update this thread with info.. heres so far, I'm not gonna spell out the abbreviations.
Day 1 (16th) 3 laps, abs
Day 2 4 laps, abs wt. 213
Day 3 (18th) 3.7 laps, wt 211.5 after walking
Day 4 4.6 laps, abs, wt 210.5 after walking
1 lap = 10 minutes walking at 3.5 mph approx .6 miles per lap
eventually im gonna run half and walk half 6 laps a day.Last edited by detoxed; 07-19-2003, 10:48 PM.Comment

You can't give carbs up for 30 days? Heck, on Atkins you could most likely do it in 2 weeks. Small price to pay to me, but to each his own. The carbs aren't the hard part of Atkins for me, really, it was the sugared sodas. But I learned to like Diet Vanilla Coke. I know it's bad for my teeth but I just can't give up soda. *sigh*Originally posted by detoxed

Well, to each his own, I suppose. Atkins is definately the diet for me. Of course, I'd rather have a nice, juicy ribeye cooked to a pink medium over a high flame to crisp up the fat than a stale old pieve of bread or a potato anyday, so maybe that's why I love Atkins so much.
There is a product out now (pills) called Phase2 that block the absorption of carbohydrates and allow you to OCCASIONALLY indulge in pasta or bread or something (starch but NOT sugar) while on the Atkins diet. It only blocks 80-90% of the starch in one meal, though. But for some people it's the one thing that helps them stay on Atkins... a one or twice a week indulgence.Comment

There is NO comparison between a fucking steak and a piece of bread! I would rather have a steak with a big fucking potato and garlic bread next to it.Originally posted by tootie

Heh yeah but with Atkins you cant give up french fries and bread, etc for just 30 days. A chicken tender meal with french fries has more allowed carbs that Atkins allows. Not gonna happen.Comment

I think you missed the point of what I was saying.Originally posted by detoxed
This isnt Atkins genius. Eating bread has nothing to do with losing weight, except on Atkins.
Know how many calories there is in just one slice of regular wheat bread?
Yeah, it's got carbs too..but I'm not even talking about the carbs..just the calories.

I'm going to eat a fixed amount of calories per day.. has nothing to do with volume or amount of food. I'll eat what I want to get those calories. I plan to keep it off by running on a regular basis and by trying to show off when I get in better shape.Comment

the start of a diet it always the best bit. Being a big gal I will drop around five pounds in the first week which is motly water. Then when it slows down to one, two points a week is when it becomes difficult.
*sigh, getting there*
Drink your water!Comment

Hey...I really hope you do it man. I'm pulling for you to succeed.

I just lost exactly 15 pounds in two months and did it the same way. If you can spread your calories out in 4 or 5 smaller meals that really helps too. Eat a small breakfast. When you first wake up in the morning, your body hasn't had any food in 12 hours or so and it starts to store fat.Originally posted by detoxed

Try to lift weights and make sure you keep getting stronger. You'll lose muscle mass too if you're not careful.
[ Some of this advice by "Pleasure Pays" ]. It worked for me.

I'm 105 lbs and found out I have dangerously high ldl cholesterol so I started eating a low fat diet and the lbs are melting off (which I do NOT want to happen so I'm trying to gain it back, but with the low fat... you (or atleast I) started seeing weight coming off right away. I overload on carbs though... not sure that is such a good thing. Hit me up on ICQ if you want a list of foods to eat that are very easy to make or pre-packed foods that are just as tasty as fattening food, but good for you.Need a Writer? Contact Me. Use more calories than you take in and you will lose weight. The percentage of fat to muscle mass lost is something you'll have to take into account, as well as the initial water weight and so on that comes off.
I definitely think you can do it!Comment

When I use to play hockey at a pretty high level, my weight would fluctuate 15 pounds or so easy within a few days, just do high cardio stuff, jog at a nice slow pace for an hour or more and you will sweat your ass off, better then 15-20 minutes of running at a high pace and thinking you will have a heart attack.Comment

just make sure you are eating the right knd of fat...and pick foods that are low in cholesterol..not just fat... some stuff has high cholesterol but has low fat...Originally posted by angeleyes

Definitely a doable plan you've got.
I've pretty much always been able to lose excess weight using a reasonable nonfad plan..
Essentially, the easier you make things on your body, the easier it will be for you.. Meaning, chew you food really well, drink PLENTY of water, don't eat too close to bed time, more frequent smaller meals instead of fewer larger ones and of course regular exercise including weight training with lower weight and higher reps.
Best of luck to you
All the best to you

Kinda like the weight watchers "points plan" my sister and mother are on it - and have lost a lot of weight.
Subway is bullshit. You can eat 2 Wendy's JB Cheeseburgers for the same calorie value as a footlong Tuna with cheese.
You have to pick the 7 under 7 subs or all is lost.Comment
