Okay, I'll go first:

Got into it as a protest to the mainstream comics/animation companies.

I musta been right cause mainstream 2D animation and comic books are dropping like a rock.

Some webmasters I've met over the years tell very interesting stories about how they got into it as a fluke yet made out alright. Some just for the money, others...just for the money.

I had a bunch of porn links I had bookmarked in my favorites. I decided to make a link list of sorts (hand picked by me without submissions) so that other people that were looking for that kind of site would be able to find the good ones easily.

Then I added a few casino banners that paid on a PPC basis. Made a few dollars (though I never got paid) and decided to make a real site rather than a link list site.

I protected the content with Adult Check. Started making some real money and getting paid. I was then motived to make more money.

The rest is as they say history.

kind of an even mix of walking out on AT&T/@Home/Excite when they started going down, not finding anything in the want ads that looked remotely interesting, having a few connections in the biz, and enough confidence to refine something I enjoyed doing into something that kicked ass and was in demand.

I was supposed to go to a job interview for a high end home theatre installation company called Matrix on the morning I made the decision. Was scheduled to meet the guy at 9am....

I cracked a beer and went down to the jacuzzi instead.

Prepared my girlfriend with a speech about, "This is not gonna be an easy road and I can get a fresh newspaper in the morning if you think it's the better choice"....

That's when the starving commenced.

actually, it is a long story. But i will keep it short.

i started a bondage company making Handcrafted leather gear (i am a master leather crafter) to make more money than i was at the Ren Faires and such making armour.

i started taking pics for my catalogs, and i found i had about 5000 pics left over after putting the 200 in the catalog. Since i was getting into the fetish scene for this, i figured, why not make some fetish sites.

took me about 2 years to finally get alot of the shit ironed out to get a site up, but www.den-o-sin.com and www.firsttimebound.com were born from those images.

we still use them and they work

That's real talent! Combining site making and other business is cool.

I am a major fan of leathercrafts not for bondage but fine tanning and creative decorative pieces with doe-hide. Brilliant! I'll tell you, best clothes I ever had were made out of buckskin. I saw a buckskin motorcycle jacket that ROCKED. Cost 1,500 smackers though but WAY worth it.

See??? That's the kinda story I'm talking about! I started with AC too. Back in the day before it became more confusing than a California woman's makeup in a tornado.

I remember just putting up that AC script and just bullshitting around and I had NO porn. Just superhero-chicks that I didn't want kids to see. It was just sketches! Some color. I left it alone and I started getting paid! Shook the shit outta me!

What's best about this business is actually to me, meeting talented people who couldn't get a shot at displaying their talent working for 'the man' til they took the bull by the horns and started some sites.
