Emachines are cheap crap, build your own b0x from name brand components after reading reviews for them by searching google or hardware sites.
Failing that, dude get a dell.Comment

Never owned one, but had a friend at the University I went to who bought one. The thing never worked right.
Get a Dell or build your own box, not to hard to do.

they came out with the 2003 findings on CNN a few days ago and emachines were voted the worst comp for 2003Comment

No, avoid them like the plague. Compaq, IBM, HP all these commercial pcs suck. My advice to you is to build your own or get it customized.Comment

NEGATIVE: dont buy one of those crappy things. friend of mine had about 4 in a row, kept returning and each subsequential replacement was shittier than the next.Comment

Dell has deals routinely for $398 or $349 systems even.

Im on an emachines at the moment. It was an okay system, at the time I got it (4 years ago) it was the best that I could afford with my budget.
But, first one I had, power supply went out after the first year.
Im getting a new one soon, either going with a Dell, or with a system I build myself.Comment

I bought about 10 of them when we started camchicks.com
After building a couple machines out of the cheapest parts I could find, I figured out it was actually cheaper to buy new emachines!
We have run them 24/7 for 3 years, and had a few harddrives fail, but given our extreme usage I consider that excusable.Comment
