MEXICO CITY, Mexico (AP) -- Borrowing from technology for tracking pets, a U.S. company on Thursday launched Mexican sales of microchips that can be implanted under a person's skin and used to confirm health history and identity.

The microchip, the size of a grain of rice, is implanted in the arm or hip. Hospital officials and security guards use a scanning device to download a serial number, which they then use to access blood type, name and other information on a computer.

The microchips, already available in the United States, have been proposed as a solution to growing terrorism concerns in the US. Attorney General John Ashcrof-t has proposed mandatory implants for all visitors and immigrants from countries on the Department of Homeland Security's new terrorism watch-list.

People on this board were calling me a conspiracy nut and much worse whenever I brought up the fact that the US plans on microchipping its entire population within 20 years. First they start with immigrants. Then once the population at large is acclimated to the idea, they do the microchip thing for society in general.

All it will take is another so-called terrorist attack, maybe something like smallpox. The various acts they have passed since 911 gives the government all kinds of "emergency powers" including forced quarantine, forced innoculations, even cordoning off entire cities. I can easily see them forcing a certain segment of the population to be "chipped" in order for "emergency health workers" to quickly scan you for diseases. After that, it's just a matter of time before everyone is chipped.

Uhhh no. I have not been watching too much Star Wars. I have been reading too many newspapers and government reports.
