Just this past weekend we had an elderly driver driving on the wrong side of a busy expressway...killed herself, and 2 passengers from another car (19 and 20 yrs old).
At a certain age you should lose the privledge to drive, or prove that you can handle it.Comment

In New Zealand, over the age of 65 or 70, drivers have to do eye tests every year, but I don't think even that's enough. some of these old bastards don't even look where they're going.
Being able to see and actually LOOKING are two different things.
I also agree that some sort of reaction testing should be in place, but for everyone of every age. If you're 20 and can't react safely, get a bus.Comment

Maybe instead of jumping on the bandwagon with everyone else the police are taking a logical approach to this and actually conducting an investigation into what happened.
I had a friend that dropped dead of a heart attack walking in his house Monday. He was 52. If it had happened 2 minutes sooner he would have been driving and who know's what would have happened. Funny thing is he was on his way back from the doctor's office hafter having a complete physical.Comment

The elderly definately need more tests and more frequently for driving.
I had one old guy follow me to yell at me, since I was in the wrong(not)...I said, "EXCUSE ME!!! You didn't even look down he road before you pulled into the main street!"

I notice a lot of you talking about old people driving... well they just had a report on our cable news about how they predict in about 10 yrs there will be about 1/4 of the drivers on the roads will be 65 and over!!!Comment

In Ontario you have to do a written test every 2 years after you hit 80, and you're not allowed to have any % of alcohol in your system at all when you drive. (although that is somewhat of a bullshit law since they can't test the actual percentage accurately unless they use the stationary breathalyzer machines back at the station.)
They should probably drop that down to 70.Comment
