only modifications I've needed to make was adding extra phone lines to keep one business separate from the other, fax line, etc....

seriously, (not just goofing around) that you keep work and home separate. A dedicated office is crucial. And inside that office, I think it's important to keep it focused on work.... which is why I DIDN'T get the fancy polished cherrywood desk and the barcelounger for a chair..... I have no television in here, no games, no pets, no minibar, no eating in the office allowed, and no fucking nonsense.
And that's the way I run my ship. Some people simply get too relaxed in their surroundings and then the motivation problems kick in. I chose a sterile, studio environment from day one, and it stays that way.
