    I just received a bad phone call

    ...my brother just called to inform me that the only mother I have known since I was twelve has passed on.

    As some of you know PF and his wife took me in when my mother and father were killed. His wife became my mother over the years and I loved her dearly. She was in poor health even before PF passed and it steadily grew worse.

    A few weeks ago... when it became apparent that she did not have much longer left...she and her nurse flew to her home state...and a few days later she was hospitalized.

                                                                                  What do you mean...now I know. I am 45 years old. Over the years I have lost many that were close to me...school friends...my real mother and father...and PF who was like a father to me. I spent 12 years in the military and lost friends in training accidents as well as in combat. The loss of someone close to me is not new to me.

                                                                                  I do not ask for your sympathy and really wish you had not posted.

                                                                                  As for you well wishers...my mothers health has been bad for a long time so we all knew it was coming any day and she actually lasted a couple of years longer than any of us expected. I will miss her but I accept her passing on and I am glad she is no longer suffering.

                                                                                  I have uncapped a new bottle of Vodka and am downing Bloody Mary's so though I appreciate the well wishers in this post I do not need your sympathy but if you care to you can have a drink in toast.

                                                                                                              Almost sounds like you miss saddam and want him back in power dude. A lot more Iraqis are better off now than they were a year ago, a point of view expressed by many Iraqis themselves.

                                                                                                              Again, condolences to theKing.... my own mom has been ill for over a year now, and just recently spent a whole month in the hospital. She is 77 now, so I am certainly very concious of the end of my time with her..... and in that sense I can relate.
