Dick Cheney under increasing pressure to resign over Iraq lies

Cheney under pressure to quit over false war evidence

Dick Cheney, the US Vice-President and the administration's most outspoken hawk over Iraq, faced demands for his resignation last night as he was accused of using false evidence to build the case for war.

He was accused of using his office to insist that a false claim about Iraq's efforts to buy uranium from Africa to restart its nuclear programme be included in George Bush's State of the Union address - overriding the concerns of the CIA director, George Tenet.

Mr Cheney was also accused of knowingly misleading Congress when the administration sought its authorisation for the use of force to oust Saddam Hussein.

Dick has been in the game for years behind the scenes. That man is one of the most powerful men out there in the shadows.

He isnt going to punk out and quit no matter how much pressure has been exterted on him. He's had 4 heart attacks and still alive.

I dont agree with what the polices of the current adminstration are. But, you have to understand that the behind the scenes things that happen are mind blowing and Dick happens to be the guy calling the shots for GWB and co.

Its just how business gets done.

UK papers like to exaggerate. That letter was sent out weeks ago and I haven't seen any calls for his resignation from any elected officials...not even democrats.

They aren't even calling for Tenet's resignation.

I know you don't think hes the 'mastermind' behind the Iraq/African uraninum mess.

I think he was just required to draw first from a hand full of short sticks.

I think it's going to be a long time before anyone besides Tenet has to face the music so to speak.

Like I said...there aren't even calls for his resignation. It's going to take months and months for this to play out..and unless some bomb shell gets dropped I find it highly doubtful it will go beyond Tenet.

BTW - Cheney has been noticeably out of the public eye since this whole thing started. I wonder if he'll come out on any talk shows - they seem to be hiding him from the public.

Dick Cheney wanted war as one of his companies had the rights to rebuild Bagdad even before it was blown up. So do you thik he was fighting for peace when he was going to recieve a $700m building contract if the city was blown up to shit.

"since this whole thing started" being the day he was announced as Bushes running mate, right?

With his heart condition, if there is stress over his decisions, this will take him out of office before politics does.
