    BF1942 Players... need help

I've got a legit version of the game, but i've lost my disc2.

I recently reinstalled windows, which wiped out my registry entries for the game (i have the game installed on another partition, so its still installed on my computer).

The game runs fine (there is a tool to re-enter the CD key into the registry), but i cannot update it with any patches - it comes up with an error saying "cannot find installation".

I'm guessing this is because there is no registry key for the installation....

....so, can anyone search their windows registry, and let me know what the key should be, that points to the location of the game?

I've searched the net, and cannot find any help on this, other than "reinstall", which i cant because i dunno where my disc2 is.

    Thanks.

    Richard.

look in the install.log of the file, normally every game have the modifications they made to the registry in there, if you're lucky you prolly can make a .reg file with all the lines in the log which would re-register the game in the registry... not sure about the .reg syntax though.

Don't worry, if you could play again you'd just die like everybody else.

Gameplay is awesome once you get into it.

Forget single player, its all about online games. Like Alvaro says, its not exactly expensive even if you dont like it.

I'm going through a Coral Sea phase at the moment, since i hooked up the joystick to control the planes :-)

from what i went through, someone else here uses the same key i have and if that person is playing at the same time i want to play, i cant get on. i thought maybe it was caused because of network issues but we arent networked (me and the other person here). i suggest you buy another copy...it's cheap now.

btw, the above may not apply to all.

Yea, you are refering to the CD Key.

I have my CD key (on the back of the manual), and i can play the game fine. What i need, are the registry entries (they are called keys as well).

Specifically, the key that tells BF where it is installed.

I cant even remember the last time I played normal BF. I get a good 3 hours of desert combat in a day. Although all the little cocksuckers with cheats are getting on my nerves.

Yeah, its well worth it, just make sure you have a decent connection. Just the magnitude of the levels and the amount of vehicles you can use, plus the people per server, make it all worth while ...

That and aerial dogfights are just awesome
