It appears that most corporations securing a DRM solution today look for specific criteria that are:
Cost: (do they need a custom solution at 100's of thousands of dollars or can they achieve the same thing though an ASP with a much greater investment)
Time: (what is the time to deployment with a system)
Longevity: (how long has this company been around and are they going to be around)
Reliability: (do they have the level of services and infrastructure to support your needs)

Kimmy has a good point which is that you should use DRM for what best suits you. Collecting email addresses using DRM is a very good trick which works well and if mined right can produce.
Here's a good example of a deployment using that type of technology:

As a paysite owner I would want DRM to be able to do two things for me -
1. provide my affiliates with alternative ways of marketing my product (provided I was going to keep an affiliate system with all the Visa stuff going on)
2. provide me with the chance to 'recover lost income' in the form of members that did not rebill by their own design.
Collecting emails is fine, and there's nothing wrong with it, but to me, that's not nearly enough out of a DRM solution.Comment

The $100k is as good as money in the bank. Someone else picked up the tab, to do the right thing and pay me back. You should follow suit, kiss my ass, and send me that aqua izod shirt as well as a peace offering.
I can assure you that I have not mailed that list in months, after I mailed it once and got 1000's of spam cops and complaints, I have not touched it.
