we picked up a guy fresh out of college and has done awesome for us. he's got lots of motivation and knocks out pretty much everything we give him. put an ad out in the paper, that's what we did.

Same goes for mine. He even dreams in PHP and almost all the other languages you can think of.
I'd say one of the world top 5 Coders around. You want something done he realises it.

Seriously, it takes more than coding skills to make a good adult programmer.
He/she needs to understand the industry and "think" like a webmaster - understand how the code will be used and what data the webmaster is looking for, and code it correctly.
On top of that, one needs to be concerned with security (!), scalability, efficency and legible code..
We've "auditioned" several acclaimed programmers and have been very disappointed.Comment
