Malone is 40, i doubt he'll play past 2 more years.. (although the dude is a human tank so who knows).

The next season is pretty much "lets watch the lakers beat everyone"... and i anticipate another one of those "best record ever" opportunities for the lakers.

                  poor Dallas What a waste!

Lakers will be a force to beat, No doubt even Tim Duncan's Spurs can match the power of the Lakers now that Robinson is out of thier line up.

With Kidd and Mourning, Martin would definitely the guy to watch out, since he can now work on the 4 position.

                    Good pickup but interesting..

I am assuming Dikembe goes back to the bench??

                    Decent lineup

                    Kidd, Kittles, Jefferson, Martin, Mourning..

If anything at least they have Mutombo as an insurance policy in case Mourning doesnt finish the season.

Everyone write this down. The lakes will NOT win the championship this year. As a matter of fact I do not think they will make it past the second round in the playoffs.

Kobe and Shaq barley got a long last year, each of them complaing about not getting enough touches, now add payton and malone to the mix!!! Too many egos and not enought touches to go around.

Teams need role players to be succesful not always more all-stars.

Just Watch the Lakers will not live up to expecitations.

                            HAHAHAHAHHA...

There was ZERO problems with Shaq and Kobe for 2 years running. The "rift" you speak of was Shaq and Kobe calling out the rest of the Lakers to pick up their games.

                            And as far as touches...

If people still want to argue about "shots" in truth they might be right. They probably wont get their accustomed 30 shots a game but I dont see their scoring averages being all that affected. Why?? Simply because now they wont have to work nearly as hard to get their 20 pts a game. They should be able now to score effeciently. Instead of needing 30 shots to score 25 points, I can easily see them getting 25 points on HALF as many shots becasue they wont be seeing nearly as many double teams.

No i am not a girl.... but Shaq and Kobe acted like little girls last year, and the year before, both complaining about not getting the ball enough. Add two more all stars to the mix and you will get more complaining.

If Kidd was smart he would have signed with the Spurs and had a chance of a title. He's not going to get it with a hasbeen.

He should have went to a team with a chance to beat the lakers like Dallas, Sacramento, San Antonio. Or hell go play at Philly with Iverson and have some fun feeding him the ball.

                                  No worries about egos...

                                  http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0710/1579083.html

                                  From Malone.

"This is Kobe and Shaq's team. I have a job to do as well. I come in with nothing but respect, but I come in with a hard-working attitude to do what I need to do to help us win a championship.''

One ex-Laker already in the Hall of Fame, Magic Johnson, will allow Malone to wear his No. 32 jersey, which was retired 11 years ago.

Malone, who made $19.3 million last year, reportedly will get the veteran's minimum salary of $1.5 million to play with the dominant big man

what makes you all think that GP and Malone will fit in? granted malone ssays he wants a ring to he MIGHT humble himself but lets get real, he's not going to take bullshit from kobe or gp. GP is an entirely different head ache, you think he is going to stand around and let kobe average 40+ points? is phil jackson can get these extra 2 ego's to work with kobe and shaq then he truely is a great coach.

The Nets are not done yet. They are in the market for a sharpshooter who can hit the outside jumper. Once they get that guy, whoever it is, they will be in really good shape. Will take the double teams off martin and the interior guys. SPrea out the offense and let Kidd create.

Should be another great year. Hopefully they can finish off the deal this time. All depends on all the ball hogs in LA never getting it together though.

I think if anyone can get all these guys to work together it will be phil jackson. He is the Zen Master. I am an apprehensive person by nature, and I know that more goes into creating a good TEAM than having a bunch of great individuals.

Kobes 40 point tear was when Shaq was in and out (coming back from injury)

Kobe single handidly brought the Lakers back to .500

For a guy who supposedly does nothing but shoot, it amazes me he also was able to lead the team in assists.

                                              Decent lineup

                                              Kidd, Kittles, Jefferson, Martin, Mourning..

If anything at least they have Mutombo as an insurance policy in case Mourning doesnt finish the season.
I would play Jason collins or DEKE and go big before I would start that inconsistant kittles...I would trade him and lucious harris for a good back up for kidd that could also play the two...or i would go after reggie miller if i was NJ...

The Lakers are going to win because they signed two guys in Payton and Malone who are years past their prime?? I don't think so. Shaq has health issues and Kobe has other issues so don't quite hand the trophy to them just yet.

I always wondered who Nets fans were since no one close to NY stands up for them. Now I know.

It is true that they are past their prime, but I would take Payton and Malone over Horry and Fisher any day. Payton's what?? 34 I think?? That's not too bad. Stockton was great even when he was pushing 40.

If I was Mitch Kupchak, I would try to get Pippen. He's still in the free-agent market, and everyone knows he's the ultimate team-player. Though, they don't have any money to offer him so they'll have to pull off a sign-and-trade. I'd kick Fox to the curb. That greasy-haired pretty boy makes me sick.
