    Visa Crunch, Et Tu PSW?

Just got this email from PSW:

It has been brought to our attention that your account has accrued a high
chargeback rate relative to its sales volume. Over the past 90 days, your
account has had activity as follows:

    Total Sales: $*
Chargebacks: $* (11.3% of total sales)

The credit card companies require us to keep chargeback rates below 2% at
all times. Furthermore, most of our clients maintain a chargeback rate
below 1% of total sales. Unfortunately, accounts with high chargeback
    rates
make it difficult for us to provide reliable service for the rest of our
    clients.

Therefore, at the request of our acquiring bank, your account will stop
processing through us on Monday, July 14. At that point, all rebills will
be marked for expiration and payouts will be held until such time as we can
ascertain the effect of future chargebacks on your account balance and
reserve withholding. It is suggested that you take the intervening time to
explore alternate processing arrangements so that you may minimize any
    period of processing interruption.

    Regretfully,

    Jeff Dean

    PSW, Inc.

Ironic thing is that psw is my backup, and I've had..oh 10 sales total or so in the last 6 months through them, but a 11% cancellation rate. Weird thing is this: PSW has been having problems issuing ACTUAL id/pws to the signups. I get emails saying "My id/pw is BLANK..how can I log in?" I look, and indeed this is true! So, the customer just asks for a credit back, and they get it. But it goes on my account as a CHARGEBACK!

how fucked up is this? Luckily I don't have that many customers through PSW.

Only using them as secondary, and didn't have that many signups through them.

The real question and concern for me is waiting for a statement from CCBill on this issue.

Just be careful they don't put you on the TMF because of it

SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

exactly. but like in the other thread - it sounds like there is a 100 cb threshold.

It's definitely fucked up. You cannot calculate a reliable chargeback rate with such small figures. There has been mention in other threads that the 1% rule only applies if you have more than 100 chargebacks.

Hmm, just checked my PSW stats and they rebilled a customer more than 24 hours after he *cancelled*. Great going, PSW. Looks like it took him 2 more cancel requests and a week to get his refund.

I'd say it's pretty easy with only 10 sales or so in the past 6 months.

10 sales in 6 months... that's why the termination is so stupid.

Yes, except that there is no simple fraction of any number of sales under 25 that comes out to 0.113 as a decimal. Is there?

Although I do see the problem. I've always said that using a secondary processor guarantees a higher chargeback ratio on the secondary (as well as overall).

Looks like their definition of a chargeback percentage is based on dollars, rather than sales.

Depends on the exact number and how they round stuff I suppose. Either way terming someone with sales that low because of a high ratio is daft. They could at least have been honest and say they didn't want the business because it was too small. Even the new rules seem to suggest a figure of 100 somewhere before the stats become relevant.

why is everyone so blown away by 11%? take it to the extreme - a small site uses 3 processors. the last processor in line does 2 sales in a month, 1 charges back.

50% cb ratio. but again, there is the 100 cb threshold...

Try 2 chargebacks out of 15 sales or so since December. Something like that.

Point being luckily for me that I have just used them as my backup and ccbill as my primary.

That's what I was thinking too. The 2 chargebacks came because the users didn't have an id/pw issued to them for whatever reason. They complained to me, I brought it up to PSW, the users got credited, but *I* got hit with 2 CHARGEBACKS!

I do think they're trying to get me out the door since I'm not doing much business with them.

Not Really. I process rebills only with Ibill since Nov. 15th 2002.

The amount of rebilling obviously goes down slowly month by month. In febuary, I got 2 members from the same city ( I presume friends... ) that chargebacked 6 months of membership.

That brought my percentage to 7.82 % . Ibill fined me 30.00 on top of the chargebacks.

Has nothing to do wit hcontent, but with the possibilty for the client to have free porn with no hassle: call the bank and say you never subscribed. Period.
I know that Asspimple is stoopid ... As he says, it is a FACT !

But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....
