Cops harrassed me last night for walking with a black person.

I spent some time standing around in the hot sun in handcuffs because someone had just stolen some clothes from a JC Penny down the road. The person was dressed the same as me and had the same kind of car. So, so what? Who cares? So, I lost 30 minutes of my life, because the police were doing their job. That is fine with me, and it was not a problem. I'd much rather have things like that happen than have cops like in Mexico or something.

Life's hard. People make mistakes. Who fucking cares. Are you in prison? No. Did the cops beat your head in with a flashlight? No. Did they ass-rape you? No. Was there any sort of a problem other than an inconvenience? No. You should have fucking thanked the cops for doing their job.

If you can't take the heat, get out the kitchen.

I questioned the fingerprint thing when I read it too. That would be the only thing that would have been out of line legally IF it happened. I wonder if there was some jaw going on during the whole thing and I wonder what the whole 'Dennys Dinner' thing was really about. Hang out with (was he??) known felons and reap what you sow.

Oh, and most of you don't know or remember, in THIS country you do NOT have to carry any ID. Matter of federal law unless Dubya changed that. Something about the Nazi's and papers... ;-)

We had a cop give the hubby some guff about that in our own back yard when they were hunting for someone complete with the helicopter. He laughed at the cop and said Uhhh, well darn, its in the house and I'm not going to go get it until your Duty Supervisor shows up to ask for it. He added 'Sir' a few seconds after in a really nasty way which ticced ME off and I don't get upset very easily. They left. He snorted and went about using the axe to cut up the street person we were having over for a BBQ. ;-)

You DO have rights if YOU know how to behave and ask for your rights. They don't have to just hand them to you in some cases. Especially as I see something sort of shady about the case in this post.

Yeah one of the cops was black and immediately there was some shit -- the black cop got some eye contact he didn't like from the guy I was with -- immediate he got defensive and started saying some shit.

It was a bad night -- depressing as all hell... this GFY is good therapy

Too fucking true - I have had a few minor run ins myself but nothing too serious - just fines that I refuse to pay cos of the bullshit!

However I still remember my cousin coming back from the police station many many years ago - looking like he did a couple of rounds with Rocky - Eyes were swollen up, ribs were black and blue. He was totally fucked up. And then HE got charged with assault. Judge said the black and white photos of his wounds were not clear enough to be used as evidence.

I don't have references for this, but the academics would also say that there's a fear of the black man -- he has been continually demonized and made into a monster... a sexual predator.
