Damn ... I was out looking at apartments today, and missed the deadline, but here is the one I had done last night ... you can have it for free Juicy, as I cannot very well use it for anything else.
It is only 8.5K in weight ...
There were some really good banners in this contest ... but one thing that shocked me was the number of entries that had sloppy logo cutouts (rough edges on the circle, or even one had a little piece of the original background a ¼ inch above the logo that their eraser tool missed ), or that the logo was not 100% sharp and crisp ...
The logo is the most crucial part of an ad when it comes to branding and product identity guys ... take the time to make the logo look SWEET, and if need be, sharpen the image as well !!
Whenever you reduce an image, it can always use a certain amount of sharpening ....
Another thing to take into consideration when doing a banner is how many colors, keeping the number of colors down, as well as the % of the banner which is an "image", will drastically reduce the file weight, and allow you more flexibility for animation etc ...
Juicy, you can use that last banner I made for free. Not that I don't need the money right now, but it was fun to work on this contest anyway.
Hungry, you know, I'm not one to be critical, but the stripes in the background of your banner do make the logo and some of the text and such look jagged at the edges, where the background meets the other stuff. Most of the other entries actually look less jagged than yours on my monitor. Not that your isn't a nice banner, because it is, but since you seemed to be rather critical, I thought you could use a little constructive criticism, too.
Your tip about keeping the colors down is right on, though. It really helps keep that file size down.

Out looking for apartments? You're obviously doing okay now, financially. Yet you still have money owed to at least one designer? When are you going to pay up?
(aren't you that cute black chick with the fantastic hooters on that old television sitcom "Facts of Life" ?? )
I know what you are saying about mine looking jagged to you tootie, but I was referring more to just a logo that was revoved from the background, that looked like it was done very quickly ...
I am sorry if I came across "holier than thou" ... that was not my intent ... there was alot of really good talent displayed here ... I was just commenting on a small detail that makes all the difference in the world to me .... I am a perfectionist, and will often scrap something I am not happy with, when other people thing it is fine, and that I am fuggn crazy
I am only saying that a few of the entrants could have spent a bit more effort in cutting out the logo from the background ... but it is all good

And not a mention of how you're going to pay the designer(s) you still owe. C'mon man. It's been over a year. We're talking about something like 20 dollars a week. Not even you are that poor.
