For real?!? holy shit...can't believe they can afford to sign both of them. The Avs will be fun to watch next year that's for sure...this means the Canucks better do something or else they won't be winning the division next season...
NHL is as messed up as baseball. There are like 6 teams every year with a shot at the Stanley Cup, the rest are just there to provide the opposition for 82 mind numbingly boring regular season games.
tho.....Jersey is able to win Stanley Cups without spending gobs and gobs of money.
I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. I've saved money, my hair is thicker, lost some weight too! Thanks Sly!
"An NHL source said Kariya, who played with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks last season, agreed to a $1.2 million contract. Selanne, who declined his option at $6.5 million with the San Jose Sharks, agreed to a $5.8 million contract with Colorado."
Both players signed for a lot less than what they could have gotten elsewhere. Plus it's only a 1 year contract.
The Ducks will be fine.......We have a good mix of new and veteran players. You have to figure it was do to Kariyas lack of productivity in the playoffs....He just could never seem to get loose like before. He did play above average defense for him. His speed was his gift.....Now with guys that go 3" taller and 30 lbs heavier that skate as well, I can see the logic. Still very very sadening.

"The source said Kariya had specific reasons for signing the relatively low contract figure, but did not elaborate. Selanne was not expected to be at the news conference, remaining in his homeland of Finland."
I'll bet there's a Cup stipulation in there -- no cup, you owe me 40 million sir!
IMHO they were the best two players that Anaheim ever had. But I am no expert or even a hockey nut.
