positive is always better than negative. Always.

Positive is nicer surely, but better? I'm all for the ego boost of having people approve of what I do, but the criticisms are far more useful.

Going back to your original point, one effect of making a judgement is that, realize it or not, you are also choosing your market. And more of us are likely to be selling to surfers who could be described as "brainless dumbasses" than to people who understand the content business.

To that extent and bearing in mind the character of this board, it isn't totally impossible that those irritating smilies are a more telling reaction than the analysis of fellow professionals
