I didn't like it either

I thought it was pretty gay but I havent seen it in a couple of years. But I gather it will still be gay. If you want a funny movie check out SuperTroopers

It's one of those movies with a plot and storyline and character development + Good humor.
Must have IQ higher then 3 to enjoy it.

Go see Matrix2, T3, and The Hulk. You'll probably enjoy those piece of shit movies.

I have an iq higher than 3, maybe even higher than 4 and I still thought it was pretty shitty. Then again the majority of Jeff Bridges movies are shitty.

Here's the plot:

Some lazy fat fucker bumbles his way into a bizarre unrealistic scenario, he enlists his equally retarted friends to help him get out of it. Some predictable stuff happens. Blah, blah, blah.....the end.

IQ higher than 3? This was far from being intelectual humor.

Am I supposed to laugh at some fat slob because he's a bumbling idiot? Sorry, that isn't intelectual humor, thats cheap humor for the trailor trash folk who don't know no better.

Dude, It's a great movie, too bad you don't get it. The Coen bros don't make traditional mainstream hollywood movies. Not much car chasing, and fighting and special effects. They rely on dialogue to carry the plot.




Welcome to a guide of the films of the wonderful Coen bros.
To date, they've made 7 movies, and each one has been utterly unique and perfect.
They certainly don't make what you would consider to be "Hollywood" type films. There are no huge stars ( Well, a couple) and no dumb car chases that destroy fruit stands on the kerbside.
Instead, with a Coen Bros. film, you get wonderful stories, beautifully realised scripts and spot-on performances from the cast ( more of which later).

You can be guaranteed to see something original with these guys, and it's never going to be what you expect.
After their debut with "Blood Simple", a nasty, twisted noir thriller - They followed up with "Raising Arizona" - A balls-out comedy that plays like a Warner Bros cartoon brought to life.
Blood Simple garnered huge critical response, and they dumbfounded expectations by coming up with Raising Arizon, so completely a departute from what was thought to be their style.

This is what makes The Coen Bros a breath of fresh air in Hollywood. They never, ever do what you think they will, but whatever they do come up with is Class-A anyways.
From Raising Arizona , they wrote Millers Crossing, a period gangster film, stuffed to the brim with 40's gangster film dialogue.
Again, huge critical response and very little box office, a curse that seems to follow them.

Then came Barton Fink, which confused even the critics. It concerns a playwrighter that is called to hollywood and suffers from writers block ( A hint perhaps guys?).
This film was a triumph of style over content, it was a genuinely strange film, reverting to surrealism in the finale.
But even this film had the elements that make a Coen Bros film - Great Dialogue, superb characters and amazing camera shots.

Then came The Hudsucker Proxy, a tribute to the old style hollywood films.
This received a critical lashing and failed dismally at the box office (As all decent films tend to do, so that's a good thing then?).
It was also their 1st attempt at working within the "hollywood" system. They had Joel Silver ( Lethal Weapon and Die Hard producer) and a major name star - Paul Newman.
Again, critics were unsure what to make of this fable, and again, it died a death. But once again, it's funny, witty, stylish and truly unique, in a way only the Coens can do.

The next effort was Fargo. This was a bleak, harsh film set in their childhood home state of Minnesota, which they compare to Siberia, but with Ford dealerships and Hardee's restaurants.
And, following in Coen logic, this won 2 Oscars. 1 for Frances McDormand's interpretation of Marge Gunderson, and the 2nd for their screenplay.

Go Figure. Years of making films that have been practically ignored by the movie going public, and then BOOM..2 Oscars at once.
All the tinsel-town trendies were saying "Of course, I've seen all of their films..they're all brilliant.."..Yeah right guys, so why did everyone look so surprised when Frances won?
So, with the eyes of the "In-Crowd" watching for the next one, what did they come up with?

The Big Lebowski - A brilliant comedy thriller about bowling, kidnapping and Jewish Holiday rituals.
Perfect..The Coens defy expectations once more with a left-turn from the last film. I saw this one (eventually finding it at an art cinema in London), and came out with people saying "Well..It wasn't Fargo was it?".
No it wasn't, and that's the point, don't ever think you know what they can do.
I hear the next one is about a quiz show host in the1940's that gets mixed up in the porn film trade. But again, it probably isn't. I don't care, because it's gonna be a good'n.

I liked that movie - probably because I can relate to 'the Dude'.

Fargo I never could get into, it just made me fall asleep.

I don't find movies about excessively stupid characters whose purpose is to maintain an excessively rediculous plot to be that funny.

The fact that it's being held in Louisville Kentucky should tell you alot about the level of intelligence required to enjoy the movie.

I just rented "Brazil" because I read it was really good....I found it to be a scatter brained movie and hard to follow. To each his own.

God Damn - Brazil is one of my favorite films. but like you said (and one of my favorite sayings), to each his/her own.

give it a chance some time - the car salesman is one hell of a creepy character, and very believable. that's what made the movie for me...

it was good..they have done better movies (Fargo and even Oh Brother...) but it was still superior than most of the junk put out by Hollywood. They do very European feeling films with an American slant. Perfect, for me. Plus, either you get dark humour or you don't.
