Not to bag on other people and their jobs, but if they were any good you think they'd be available...ASAP!??
Hi there Eros... I have to agree thats kind of nuts most of the times... people seem to be always in a hurry. I think there are two factors, each very different from the other:

1) Bad planning: Person / company doesnt make a global schedule to plan each stage of the development of their project and that ends up hurting everyone involved, And;

2) Unexpected events: iE: person / company has a project and an assigned designer, programmer, copywriter, etc, but then one of them doesnt do a good enough job or leaves the ship for a reason. When this happens, you need to find a new person/company for the position ASAP and its perfectly acceptable.

As some people said, good companies usually arent available for jobs ASAP. This is not always true though. When companies think that the potential client can be a good biz opportunity, or when you have a loyal client needing something ASAP, you just sleep less. Period. The main issue is to think about the ROI for both parties. If its good for both, why not do it?

Rush jobs can also be an opportunity to operate with better profit margins. Its ok to, IMHO, charge around 20% more if the job has a pretty tough deadline to follow.

I hope this adds up some food for thoughts on the topic.

Kind regards,

Bruno Dickman
