Damn..never thougth of it that way but now that you mention it yea, if they are so good wouldnt they be kinda backed up with work...There would be exceptions though, maybe someone just decided to start taking on less work and is available for quick request jobs.

Bang on. I used to do SAP consulting.

The market has changed, and the clients are getting cheap. They think they can do all right with whatever consultant is available when they want one.

        They pay for it huge.

          What nonsense.

I just wrote a huge reply but GFY fucked it up.

Look at the design contests here, are all the ppl who enter bad?
If not how do they have time to enter, shouldn't they be backed up with work as it was said?

PHP/MySql ppl grow on trees never hard to find one of those.

The pocket philosophy here is really touchy to read but hardly well thoughtout.

            No it's not nonsense.

I'm not saying they aren't any good, but people should plan out things a bit better.

Why? If you want it over night...you just may have to settle for what's available.

And the contest..there's a reason you won't see some of us participating in them...I get paid for my work and there is no shortage of it.

Thats what you said, so good designers are not available asap ;)
Won't drag that horse around anymore though, but if you say you think that people should plan things out better I couldn't agree with you more.

The adult industry is however filled with people who get the itch to do something and then want it done right when they think about it, usually those people have not given any thought on how to describe the job they need done and because they are so unprepared themselves the designers/coders whatever are handicapped by lack of information for the job so it takes longer and they only have themselves to blame.

This is the way of the online adult industry and that will never change, afterall we are all just lazy assholes, I know I am

yes people who were actually good designers that priced themselves out of business.

oh I absolutely agree.. what I was trying to point out is.. I think that you are in a position where you can raise your prices, you do kickass work, but there is just so much you can do, I would try to equalize the price with the demand so that you don't end up in the same position the Gallery People found themselves

Hi there Eros... I have to agree thats kind of nuts most of the times... people seem to be always in a hurry. I think there are two factors, each very different from the other:

                                    1) Bad planning: Person / company doesnt make a global schedule to plan each stage of the development of their project and that ends up hurting everyone involved, And;

                                    2) Unexpected events: iE: person / company has a project and an assigned designer, programmer, copywriter, etc, but then one of them doesnt do a good enough job or leaves the ship for a reason. When this happens, you need to find a new person/company for the position ASAP and its perfectly acceptable.

As some people said, good companies usually arent available for jobs ASAP. This is not always true though. When companies think that the potential client can be a good biz opportunity, or when you have a loyal client needing something ASAP, you just sleep less. Period. The main issue is to think about the ROI for both parties. If its good for both, why not do it?

Rush jobs can also be an opportunity to operate with better profit margins. Its ok to, IMHO, charge around 20% more if the job has a pretty tough deadline to follow.

I hope this adds up some food for thoughts on the topic.

                                    Kind regards,

                                    Bruno Dickman
