    Don't blame the the newbies!

This was in reply to another thread but I thought I would bring it to the top.

Many think that the problems we have are because there are to many newbies coming into the adult industry and thining out the money pot.

It's not the newbies that are the problem.
The problem is the hugh amounts of free porn on the internet.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
"When the amount of free porn is reduced, sales will go up"

There is no reason for a surfer to sign up to a program when they can go to a 1000 different sites and have access to 1000's free porn pictures on each site.

Reducing the amount of free porn on the net is the anwser to a lot of problems, the main one being why can't I convert?

Nah, it's not the newbies that are the problem. That a cop out.
    Free porn is the problem.

but wouldn't You get tried of getting off on the same pics.

    You would want something new.

If this is the case they be better off getting off on their thoughts of hot chicks or whateva floats their boat, because all the free porn is overused pics

i'm sure there's ppl still making major dollars even though the net is ovberflowing with "free porn"
    It IS what it IS

It's not the amount of free porn... it's the quality... Hey, we all need traffic... But when you post... Tease the customer... DO NOT give them FREE T&A... Maybe a little peek of boob but NOTHING below the waist for sure....

If you tease them enough... they will want more and if there is no where to get it but to pay for it... they they will have to sign up....

      Problem solved...

Next problem please... the Dr. is in.

Use Lensman's program and get the most for your hard earned traffic.

How about the sponsers form a cartel and do something?
If you have the 50 biggest ones in it, they will have enough power and money to bullie the industry a bit

But without the "free porn" it would make it hard to get sales, because I doubt many people these days would signup just after a little freetour and without gallerys! And without sites like AL4A it is even harder, unless we post on adult boards (non-webmaster). But that was a hard way.

I'd say get rid of AVS sites, because like adult check, they pay so much a month, and get a huge number of porn! Or make it, you sign up for adultcheck or whatever other AVS site and then you pay the actual site owner $5 to get access that site, that would've been a better business model for them!

It's not impossible. It's the thought of it being impossible that makes it impossible. All the limitations are within your minds. If you want it bad enough, you'll get it, you just need to work on it.

                          I don't own any TGP's !
I know everything is possible and perhaps really some people in the industry don't think in the long term ( hidden cross sales, emails sold over and over, auto-installing dialers, crappy paysites member areas etc. )
But in this case... if 95 of the biggest 100 TGP's start listing only agressive 5 thumb galleries or galleries without thumbs leading to bigger pictures, the other 5 TGP's will become the biggest and will make far more money

You forget that this is a global industry without a central controller. Free porn is here to stay.

I was chatting to some guys from the UK a few weeks back and one of them admitted to being a long term member of wasteland even though he browses through the Hun and Worldsex galleries regularly. If you have those magic pics for the desired niche and the guy has his card at hand the scene is partly set. Its then up to the sponsor site to finish the job. Get that part wrong and you will bang your head against a brick wall.

Go chat to a local car dealer who has been in the business 20 years. You will find that he has moved with the times.

You have two choices - tons and tons of traffic hitting overcooked sponsors (the numbers game) or spend time thinking of ways to stand out in a niche you know well.

I'll have to disagree with you on this one. They will become the biggest by far, but they will not necessarily become the most profitable. With the number of surfers remaining constant, and if those 95 refused to trade with the 5 that don't change, I'd say the 5 would find themselves left in the cold pretty soon. The only way for them to get ANY traffic is via returning bookmarkers, search engine traffic or word of mouth promotion, unless they decide to do some other kind of non-conventional advertising. And let's face it, you can pretty much forget about SE traffic, unless you have a shitload of incoming links. Those could be built over time, but initially, those 5 TGP's would not be able to keep their traffic, since no one traded with them.

I have been using the net for around 9 years, you could download free porn from Usenet newsgroups for as long as I can remember. There was plenty of it, spam free and new scans being posted all the time.

The fact that free porn was so easily available (remember web browsers were'nt what they are now) did not stop the adult industry flourishing into a huge multibillion dollar global business. The people subscribing to porn in the early days weren't just dumb surfers either, the majority could easily navigate Usenet if they wished. We're talking about uni students, computer techs etc.

What brought people to porn sites was that webmasters tailored an "experience" and sold it. My first site in 1996 was remarkably simple, yet by offering people a central repository of stories, contacts, some adult products and of course pictures I was able to make money out of the new porn industry. Later as time went on much more attention had to be paid to presenting something more than just content.

It is true that saturation was not then what it is now and it is also true that the novelty of the Internet has worn off for most of the western world. However I still think that if you can offer surfers an "experience" and capture the essence of that in your tours then you will make big money. This is the reason "reality sites" have done so well. The whole of a site like Bangbus is worth much more than the sum of it's parts.

If we reduced the amount of free porn by 50%, even that would help.
Sales would rise and webmasters would be smiling.

It just blows me away that no one can see the forest for the trees.
