I don't see how they can produce that high quality custom drawn content without incurring enormous design fees.
Unless they have student rebel designers in Chinese forced labor prison farms doing it for .10 cents an hour.
If you would like to develop your domains, you can lease inexpensive foreign labor

As a cartoonist I think it's cool. I'm not into the 'demon sex' stuff but if dude is doing the work himself he's sure as heck saving a ton of money.
The 3D stuff has a far route to go as most guys use preloaded forms and textures and far too often one guy's stuff looks like another guy's stuff so you can't tell one from another.
I'm working on new 3D/CG stuff and to avoid this I literally sculpt my models as well as layout out my figures on paper and build them in the computer. What I'm working on looks so real you can't tell the difference.
The advantage to toons is many fold. No model fees, age verification etc. Everything is a created work and falls under the 1st Amendment and is literally bulletproof. I don't approve of the guys who do 'child porn' with virtual characters and believe it or not it's untouchable in the U.S. because of the Supreme Court rulings.
It's cool if you can use technology to lower overhead and express yourself. Yet 3D/CG is only as good as the artist that uses it. If he can't compose and tell a story, it'll look like an amateur job.
Our goal is to use it as an additional venue to traditional 2D art. Which is still very, very popular. The reason is because most boys in the western and eastern countries read comic books, fall in love with Supergirl, Betty & Veronica, Anime chicks etc. And it is a viable fetish. The fact I'm here is proof of that.
Erotic artwork goes all the way back to the stone age and a simple trip to any museum that houses antiquities will prove that in spades.
Soon tons of guys will be running 3D sites and some will be good and others crappy.
It's like the 'Riddle of Steel' from that old 'Conan The Barbarian' movie. It ain't the sword, it's the man who wields it.
We artists are often the target of 'jealous' or 'demeaned' people who for some dumb reason feel it's superior to attack. All it does is displays their own insecurities. When you study you get better. There's no trick or magic wand. Just good ol' fashioned practice. I often meet guys who react in two different ways, either they hate that you can do art or they are amazed to meet someone who does it right. The responses define the true character. A dude who gave it up and is hostile only missed one important piece of information: They didn't study and practice. Never too late though. A year of intense study can do wonders.

I do 3D artwork myself. Alot can be accomplished with it if it's done by people who really take time with their work. The image set in that gallery is using the low quality stock models and they haven't even bothered to customize them very much. It's a nice set, but believe me, 3D art can be even better than what you see in that gallery.
For example, I am far from being the best 3D artist there is, but here is an image that I did a few months ago.

Tootie, you're on the right track! I can look at it and tell exactly what you did!
Now you're thinking in the right direction! The 3D software goes so far unless you've got customized plugins and additional image software to modify them.
Lotsa people don't get that. They think just cause it's 3D it's a sell. Far from the truth.
It's gonna be a great year ahead to see how we do things with 3D and I can assure you, it's gonna revolutionize the business.
It can be expensive to purchase or commission because movie content will take labor and perhaps a crew of animators/programmers.
Yet in the not too distant future it'll be viable for those who know how.Comment

Yes, 3D rendering is a definite investment for the future. If I were a huge webmaster and had connections to discount software/hardware I would be hiring a crew to max it out asap.
Not necessarily to just produce 3D but you can use it to augment/enhance already shot footage and pics.
Or when you're going to shoot a movie having a special effects crew can save you time and money on locations, sets etc.
1 or 3 man crews will do very well soon with 3D.
Sure there'll be sweathouses with some poor shmuck somewhere in bumfuck Thailand giving it his all but knowledge of the type of content the surfers want is the key.
You don't have to be a 2D artist extreme to do great 3D but it sure is a big help.
The wave of computer graphics in no way is gonna put the hand drawn artist out of work, what it'll do is separate the chaff from the wheat and the best will stand tall.
If you're not an illustrator, you should get some books about illustration so as a director you'll know how to communicate with illustrators to guide them to creating the content that you like.
Far too often I'll get an email from a 'big baller' pornmeister who supposedly knows all the angles and has no friggin' clue as to how to do this professionally. They'll spend tens of thousands of bucks at a gambling casino yet are reticent to work in a reasonable budget to get what they need and want.
If you want the best, pay for it. If you want low ovehead and high yield, hire-a-proven-professional and follow his or her advice.
Plan things out so you'll have a good idea on time and volume of your ROI ( return on investment ). Just cause it's porn don't mean you don't have to be a professional businessman.
Or you can team up with several webmasters to invest in a project. Lots of ways to keep one step ahead of the competition.
If planned right it can be a fun and profitable endeavor.
