Oh man when I was telling my mom and step dad he got really interested and then said "excuse me". I was thinking it had revolted him and that he had left the conversation. To my surprise he comes back out to the spa room carrying two briefcase looking things and hands them to me and my husband. I open them up and it's a salesman's demo case full of 70's and 80's style porn videos. I really didn't want to ask why precisely he had these as I still think it's gross to think of your parents watching these or having sex. All he said was your mom doesn't enjoy these so you guys can have them. He also asked if he could accompany me to Internext in Vegas. The rest of my family knows what I do also but they choose not to talk about it much. My husband's mother is Jehovah's witness and she talks about it more than anyone. No, and I don't plan to although they are pretty smart and have probably figured it out all on their own. I think they prefer the facade of ignorance though so I doubt it will ever come out in the open.

I told both of my brothers recently and they were totally cool about it. One of them is even out there 'spamming' my business to his friends in the same way that I 'spam' his band to all of mine. Fair trade.

I'm not ashamed, it is much more a respect for them. My Mom is MEGA religious and while she would accept it in the end, it would cause her serious upset. My Dad is not religious but very very prudish and straight laced. He is one of these guys who always pays all his bills in full each month, thinks porn is dirty, black people are dangerous and jobs are meant to be hard work and no fun. He just wouldn't understand.

My brothers and I grew up amazingly well rounded in this environment and therefore I feel perfectly comfortable telling them about it. I just would never want to 'disappoint' my parents by telling them that I do something they would both find revolting.

Both my parents know and my grandmother knows. My grandmother doesn't like it, but she says as long as it's legal, she won't say anything about it. My parents are both fine with it, and my mother and my husband's father will probably both be working for us soon. We've been talking about it for a couple of weeks, now, and e're about ready to get them both started.

I have a very open relationship with my parents.

They pretty much knew EVERYTHING about me, I never held anything back.

When I first started in this business my mother came to my house and sat down with me and went through the galleries I was building because she wanted to see what I actually did.

She thought it was interesting and would even offer up her opinions on the girls I was using.

Over the last 2 years as my business became bigger and more successful my mother told me on every occassion how proud she was of me. She passed away on March 1st so I'll never hear it again.

My father on the other hand is extremely conservative and not so much religious anymore but this does not fit within his lifestyle.

while he does not judge me on it, I know he wants this to end as quickly as possible.

I have started a project for my youngest daughter (14) starting up a site that will sell electric scooters in north America. I wish my parents would have instilled some business smarts in me early on. I could be just buying this stuff instead of relying on it for the majority of my income.

My parents know whats up, they both have major problems with it since they are very conservative people and cant understand how a computer can make you money.

They are both folks that think work is no fun, 12 hour days, tons of overtime, never get promoted and always be under someone's thumb in terms of asshole bosses and once a year get a week off to cram your vacation into.

Nothing beats working for yourself. You works 20 times harder but, you also get to feel that self satisfaction of being able to live life on your terms.
