    What's with this 127.0.0.1 ?

Every now and then my log contains referrals from IP 127.0.0.1, often in this longer form:
    http://127.0.0.1:1234/HLPage?pg=http...t=free%20adult

Could any of you knowledgable people explain this.. It's a complete mystery to me

looks like somthing on a subdomain behind a router like at home on my system I have three computers the router has a IP address and the computers IP's are like this

    10.0.0.2
    10.0.0.3
and so forth perhaps the pages that the person came from were hosted on a DSL connection or somthing

    Just my thoughts

127.0.0.1 is your local port. So your stats are probably showing a click that you made from your HD to what ever it is that recorded the stats for you.

        I could be wrong..::shrugs::..

It could be a hacker. Trying to connect to your "server" as a local host so he bypasses all the security checks.

but thats just in my opinion

Ok, so 127.0.0.1 is my local IP. But what's the deal with the cgi part of the referral URL, where one of my pages are fed into some kind of cgi program (called HLPage)? What would be the use?

Huh?? You lost me on that one..

127.0.0.1:8888 isent "local IP" .. It is the local "port" on any computer. That is true as well it could be some kind of trojan except for the fact that I dont think a hacker is going to make a trojan that will click on one of you web pages.

Im still not queit sure what excactly happned and what your stats say ..But what I think it is..

..is lets say you have a webpage of yours saved on your hard drive (ie.. C:\internet\MyWebpage\ ) . And if you clicked on any link from a html page that you opened from your HD, it whould cause the 127.0.0.1:8888 to show up in your stats..

I dunno.. I Dont think it is any thing to worry about though.

Go into the Windows/System32/Drivers/etc directory and open the file called hosts.

                                                  Change the line that says:

                                                  127.0.0.1 localhost
