While he tries to be part-LL Cool J and part-GG Allin, he comes off as a 12-year-old trying to get the attention of the kids on the playground by telling dirty jokes. Ultimately, the album's unwavering desire to shock us is what makes it so boring.

Like I Need Drugs, Gory Days goes beyond just music, again featuring a shocking booklet filled with crazy photos. Musically, the album isn't nearly as memorable as the photos. Though it's an easy comparison ? perhaps even an obvious one ? you can't help thinking it: Necro sounds exactly like Eminem. Or better yet, Necro sounds exactly like a more perverse Eminem ? more perverse than Eminem would ever allow himself to be. Of course, the initial shock of hearing Necro wears thin quickly, leaving you to confront the facts, namely that Necro isn't an impressive rapper.

The Rare Demos and Freestyles series of collections released by Psycho + Logical Records compiles a variety of lo-fi Necro recordings from the '90s. However, you also need to keep in mind his exploitative business practices. Essentially, he tries to sell you everything he can, including trash like this.
