I use a mousepad with my dual optical, and it works fine.

Uh - one of the major selling points of an optical mouse is that it doesn't need a mouse pad.

There are some cool mousepads for optical mice, mostly for use on glass desks. They have a fine repeating pattern, a smooth surface, etc. to be optimal for optical mice. If you don't need one, though, why bother?

i've never had good luck with black. they come in different colors?
i need a mouse pad, that's why i'm asking. and i've heard some bad reviews about some of those optical mouse pads, i.e. they don't work (the ones with teh hex design).<a href="http://www.iroc409.com/"><img src="http://www.iroc409.com/adv/120x60.gif" border=0></a>
