Thanks PMdave and swedguy.

PlatinumBucks: thanks too. I caught your offer to provide descriptions after writing most of this, so I'm going to post it anyway:

There are at least 40,000 hosted galleries out there from over 800 sponsors, with anything from 1,000 to 2,000+ new every month and 500-1,000 disappearing.

If I can collect a link, check the gallery to categorize it, write a description and/or make a thumb, etc., etc., and get the code onto my site, all within 2 minutes per gallery, I would spend 35-65 hours a month just to keep on top of all the new galleries.

Some have the resources and willingness for that. Others go off to freeshotstedgalleries or wherever and link to hosted galleries via generic descriptions such as "Teen Thumbs". There are big TGPs who have always listed galleries that way, but it doesn't get the most clicks from visiting surfers. Others will do the job better, but to cap the amount of time it takes, stick mainly with sponsors they already promote.

Either way many sponsors are missing out on a lot of the potential for hosted galleries to get more sales and attract new affiliates. In your case, I log in to your webmaster area, get to the hosted galleries page, and then make 3-5 selections to get the code for one gallery. I understand that when someone designed the setup it didn't seem cumbersome. And it isn't: until you repeat it thousands of times and have to do all the rest of the work I have described.

Someone asked earlier in this thread whether it was so hard to be different. In this context it's at least difficult to justify. I don't really believe many surfers are going to notice that some of my descriptions appear on other sites. After all, how is it any different from Joe Blow submitting his gallery to me and to hundreds of other TGPs?

All of which is a long-winded way to appeal to sponsors to put their links in text boxes or collect them in some other way that is as easy as possible to copy and paste or download. Provide the information TGPs commonly use, such as niche identity and descriptions. You have already done most of the work, getting the galleries made and providing the content: it would take so little extra effort to transform the usefulness of hosted galleries and get closer to their potential value for everyone involved.
