                  the camaro goes faster, although they usually don't rent the V8 version... then again the Mustang looks good and at least they still make them!

                                                                              Newer mustangs aren't horrible, but the 98's and around there looked like normal boxy cars. (nissan sentra anyone?)

                                                                                                  Mind you all the big rental companies are owned by Ford. Budget,Hertz and on down the line. So sorry to hear they had to put the old camaro down. Did you know that not one of the big 3 makers EVER discontinues a car line unless it makes no money and is truly a piece of shit. Camaro being a fine example. If anyone reading this knows about cars they will know that "old pushrod 350 is the dinosaur of dinosaurs and Ford made the smart technological advancements in dumping a pushrod motor in favor of the OHC design. By far the better efficient motor not to mention the possibility's are endless in such an early design stage. Chevy

                                                                                                          Well, if your only choosing between those 2 vehicles and only interested in newer models, I would say Camaro SS (96 - 02...with 97 and newer even better since they has the LS1 instead of LT1....freeer revving and more power)...or new 03 Cobra. Look outside these cars however and there are numerous choices that would be even better imho. The mitsu Evo or new 03 /04 STI Scoob rule now....easy to tune and 4wd makes for some fun driving.

                                                                                                                  Define "real"....I do't drive either a Stang or Camaro, but there are some decent ones out there. I have one German and one Japanese car now and both are great sports cars. Just keeping it real as some peeps love American rides and some don't.

                                                                                                                          We've gone over this time and time again, and it seems that Mustangs always come out ahead.

                                                                                                                          It's no secret here that I'm a huge Mustang fan...... However, in this case, I would go with the Camaro. The stock Camaro - like the kind you'd be able to rent - would be faster and more fun. If your gonna do a Mustang, it must be at least a GT otherwise you'll get beat out by mini vans.
