Not entire accurate, policing is a public service, if that were the case a few more registrars would have similar policies or at least some how reproach customers for abuse in this matter. In my opinion the reason they are doing this is simply to free domains and have users shell out the $80 to unfreeze them. Think about it, with the under $10 they charge per domain name thats 8 years you have to be with them before they see $80 of revenue, which isn't even profit, or they can freeze your domain and get $80 from you, $79 of which is profit, not have to care about your ass for eight years and even if you transfer off. How many domains are even eight years old vs 1, 2, 3 or 4 years, certainly a very very tiny portion.
Its all in the $$$.
