Couple it with gimmicks or lower the prices, or when software companies put a big stand on pirated software.

Seriously, when one has downloaded pirated warez, they will keep doing it until they can no longer download.

Give users a reason to buy it. Perhaps updates, support or something else positive. You could also start distributing virus infected copies of the software to warez sites.

Give adult webmasters a special price, like Microsoft gives College Students deals on their software.

Overwhemingly so far I see webmasters complaining about price.

But what makes a webmaster any different than any other small business? Do all small businesses deserve the same break?

i agree....make the software free. pay-per-day or pay-per access might be the way to go.

I had the same problem when I sold Videoediting systems. Some of the customers dident have the money upfront to buy the software, or wasent sure that it was the right software for them.

We introduced a "subscribtion system" like the one microsoft tryed to use. The customer "leased" the software from us for a specific project or period. In the end of the period the customer could buy the software for the salesprice - the lease price, or he could simply return it to us.

It worked great for us, but it was a bitch to sell the idear to the customer and the software producer, but in the end they all liked it.

I think when Adobe lowers the price for PS in general they would sell way more then they are doing now. When I started to do designing I wanted to buy a new version of PS but ended up with a much older version of it as back then I couldn't/wouldn't want to pay that much for it. Same for the updates.

I think Adobe inc. knows more about marketing than we do, and have every right to set their pricing. I think people stealing is people stealing.

Agreed, but with the prices they have I can imagine people getting Kazaa to get their stuff.

A lot of companies have benefitted from pirated versions of their
software. Adobe, Microsoft, Virus scanners. Those companies
give fuck all about you using the software and not paying.

They are interested in the companies that do buy those licenses.
As soon as you start making some bucks with help of that
software you start to get interesting for those companies.

You think Bill Gates gives a fuck about all those illegal copies of
Windows XP, 98, 2K? No way man, they only give a fuck if you
are a big company with a lot of money and don't have licenses.

Price is totally one point ..
especially the amount of software we use in the adult industry as compared to others ..
Myself I worked design for a year on a $79 program before I could afford adobe LOL . the price they ask is fucking outrageous .. but worth the investment if you can make it pay off.

                                                          I dunno about 2k though .. I paid $1100 CND

another point is " one use" software .. some of the programs are too expensive considering the amount of time one might actually use them , I paid $59CND for XARA 3d and I have used it all of twice or three times .

Specific targeted software bundles would be cool at discounted prices .
SIG TOO BIG! Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of DEFAULT SIZE and COLOR. Unless your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, then you may use a 624x80 instead of a 120x60.

But what makes a webmaster any different than any other small business? Do all small businesses deserve the same break?
because the adult biz is more innovative then mainstream! if you give webmasters the option to try it free for say 15 days with the option to purchase the product at a reduced price over what a normal customer would be charges, then they are more likely to a) give better feedback and b) purchase the product.

not only does the company get accurate feedback on any bugs that may need fixing, they may also get the sale.
