Very good post. Its true though that with 404 traffic you have no real reason to be nice to the surfer. And with more pop ups, there is more potential. On the 1st, 2nd, 3rd pop up he may close them all, but the 4th pop up might be something that could interest him - maybe a pic of a girl he really likes - so then he clicks and you have a click to the paysite. There was no waste in that, just more potential.. Now on a tgp, I can see why there should be no more than 1 if any. That is a site a surfer will regularly return to, and if hes constantly being bugged by consoles, he wont return. Completely different story on the 404.
