has a 6 year old daughter!!??

I just found out that one of my best friends has a 6 year old daughter! I have known him for 5 years, I guess he gave up all legal rights as soon as she was born, but he just recently starting seeing her again.

We used to hang out almost everyday. Everyone else around me knew. I dont know why I was left out... I am just so absolutely shocked! Its going to be hard for me to trust him again.

Everyone tells me its no big deal, so am I making a big deal out of this?

BTW he is 26 now

I'm sure he had a good reason to keep it from you? Have you asked him? Even the closet friends and family keep secrets from one another for various reasons in my experience. Been too honest with somebody can do more harm than good to that relationship in the long run imho.

Would it have changed your friendship if you had known he had a kid? I really doubt it. So why let it chang the friendship now?
Giving up the legal rights when she was born is obviously something he isn't proud of, and is now having second thoughts and trying to rectify it. That's credit in my book... even if it is 5 years later. I wouldn't let it bother me if I were you.
There's quite a few things my best friend doesn't know about me, and I'm sure there are things I don't know about her. Mystery is what keeps relationships interesting.
