It's pretty easy to tell from scanning subject lines what should be ignored
I've never used the ignore feature because it basically only removes the body of the ignored person's post but doesn't remove the replies, which often contain quotes so you end up reading what they posted anyway. Unless they've hijacked a thread you're interested in it isn't a problem, really.
Maybe I'm thicker skinned than many, I don't get upset over internet postings but then again with a family like mine I've honed the finer art of ignoring
