    One look reveals the probable character of the beast, so let's just cut right to the quick. The Neon SRT-4 rips to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, to 100 in 13.8, covers a quarter-mile in 14.2 seconds at 102 mph, and keeps on huffin' all the way to 153 mph

      No offense, I'm glad you like your car, but it's a friggin' Neon..?!?

      I could have $10k in engine work done to a $500 Pinto and smoke you, but it's still a Pinto.

      What you and the ricers haven't figured out is that there's more to a car than JUST the engine. The trick is to get something that really looks good AND can blow the doors off everyone else.

                          You are so wrong bro. This car has only a little sheet metal in common with the neon. From the tires to the turbo, this is a different animal. And yea, I think that 5.8 seconds to 60 is pretty fast. Sure it is not in the 4.X range like the cobra and Viper but it is only 19 thousand dollars. That is so cheap for this level of performance.

                                      Trouble is my Grandma drives a Neon. I would just never feel comfortable driving one that is trying to be some sort of Fast and Furious car.

                                      I would feel like a knob driving it.

                                      There's a local kid that has a Neon and he put a big wing on the back, that racing stripe that you see on the Vipers, and a really loud stainless steel performance exhaust.

                                      Everyone laughs at him.

                                          Push that level of performance over and over, like you can a viper or porsche, and see how long it takes the cheap parts to start breaking up.
                                          Think about it for a moment, for 19k, the pistons, valves, springs, heads, cam, crank, lifters, etc... are not going to be quality parts, but hey, race away man. luck to ya.

                                              Not true voodooman. The car is cheap because the group of young Dodge enginers that got this SRT project cut costs all over the car. For example, there is no cruise control, there are no electric motors for the rear windows, there is no key hole in the passenger door. There are many examples of this cost cutting all over the car. The money they saved they put into performance parts. And besides, I have a 7 year 70 thousand mile warrenty...

                                              Really, I thought it was funny too. A neon, what the fuck, I am not driving a neon. For gods sake, I had a turbo Porsche just 2 years ago and love that too. But this little dodge is just so much fun, so American (and I feel good about that) and is so cheap. I could not resist myself.

                                                  This reminds me of when I was just out of high school. I was in my t-bird and I pulled up to a stop light where there was a Cadillac on the left of me filled with about 4 kids. As I sat there waiting for the light to turn, the kids in the Cadillac were staring over at me and my girlfriend (now wife). When the light turned we both floored it, of course the t-bird was no match for the Cadillac, they sped up fast and just about 2 blocks up they hit a red light. As I saw that I started to slow down just enough so that when the light turned green I could hit it with momentum, which I did. This left the Cadillac behind me for about a block and as they approached we both saw ½ block up the light was red. So this time we both slowed down trying to time the green light. Without having to stop we hit the green light and both floored it. Unfortunately as we were going through the intersection (which was not a normal intersection it was where the left lane merged onto a 2 way road) the car on the left of us ran the yellow light and just side swiped the Cadillac. It forced them into my lane and me up on the curb to avoid being hit by them. As I drove away I thought that is not going to be a fun one to explain to their mom since it was obviously not theirs.

                                                          I would like to see that heap stand up to a collision. I was rearended by a honda going 45mph as I was stopped. Four more cars rearended the honda which of course kept piling into me. I was in my Benz (SL 500) I was the only one who walked away. Everyone else behind me was transprted away in an ambulance. Like I said, you get what you pay for and for $19k, I wouldn't want to be caught in that heap of scrap metal......

                                                                      Don't pay these people any mind. 5.6 for 19K is respectable and I don't think it's going to be falling apart the way some people are claiming. I remember when I first heard about this car; I thought the numbers were a misprint.

                                                                          Tuning is a hobby of mine. My mom owned an Intrepid R/T for a while, Dodge's first attempt to put racing into their cars, it was a great sleeper, and comfy as hell, def not bad for $30k, and a great warrantee to boot, but its like this: if you're car is always in being fixed (fast car -> fast braking -> fucks up dodge's notoriously shitty rotors and brake systems REAL quick) you are going to spend more in the end, even if it is all warantee work. There's no shame in owning a domestic car, but lets not pretend it is anything other than a Dodge Neon.

                                                                              If the car is going to break or not is really a matter of conjecture at this point. I suppose you can say that a 2.4 litre engine with 14 pounds of boost from the turbo will not last long. And you do have a very good point about what good is a warrenty if the car is in the shop all the time being fixed for free. At that time you have no car. But I am really happy to buy an American car this time. Maybe it is the war, American Pride I dont know. But this time Dodge has really done it. Fast as shit and cheap with a great warrenty and solid feel and great seats. I will be that this little car will be a classic in a few years. The wet dream of every 18 year old kid in America.

                                                                                  I would say you were either racing somebody that either wasn't racing, or doesn't know how to race. The guy in the Z was probably wondering why you were lunging back and forth in the drivers seat going around him in a 45 mph zone.

                                                                                  Not knocking your Neon, it's a great car for the money. But I'll run with you any time, the Z boasts 0-60 in 5.4 for 26K and delivers.

And this little Dodge is bone stock. When Mopar comes out with parts ina few months it will be even faster.

She says if I continue to do it she will not suck my dick any more as a punishment. i have a big problem becuase to be honest I like driving fast more than I do getting head. No, dont ask where i tested its speed... cause your not going to get a strait answer.

Just waiting on a new T3/T4 to replcae my 18g pice of crap Greddy turbo I had on it.

                                                                                                                                                                                  The power to weight ratio is deff. a key point.

                                                                                                                                                                                  The torque in the car is almost equal to the 315hp it put out last run on the dyno, at about 15lbs of boost, which really makes a majopr difference on the road, track, and highway.

                                                                                                                                                                                  I took a few webmasters for a spin at the last August Internext show, and they were quite impressed that this plain looking Honda Civic Si that rolled out of the Diplomat Valet, was womping on just about everything we met on the SoFla roads!
                                                                                                                                                                                  So much so, they thought about building one as a project.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Since I stopped driving I've lost weight, I'm in better shape, I get more sun, I meet more people... I walk or run or bike at least 1-2 hours/day...

                                                                                                                                                                                      Down the main strip of my town I can beat just about any car on my bike because I don't have to stop for a red light or for cops

                                                                                                                                                                                      I admit driving was fun, but it gets old... I have way more fun on my bike. I realized that driving was mostly for my big ego -- I have no need for a car... I can walk to dozens of restuarants and I hate grocery shopping. When you drive you waste time and energy and you're getting fat sitting in it... and you're more likely to be audited by the IRS with a nice asset on your record... also now I can move to NY or out of the country and not have to worry about selling my car... Granted not every city is friendly to people without automobiles, but now I appreciate living in a community and not in gridlock.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Probably none of you care -- but I figured I'd offer my advice... I've had a car since highschool... but last year it started bothering me that I owned a car... all the hassle of the paperwork and the bills and the upkeep and the cops, but mostly it was about my freedom... Realize that driving is mostly a way for the government to keep you under control... if you don't do this or that then you lose your car or your driving privledges... fuck the government! I'm not a dog on a leash. Take your roads and run them up your ass -- I don't need them. So what if you can do 0-60 in 2 seconds or 500 seconds... it's all relative. I have this job so that I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere... I can't emphasize how good I feel to not have a car... I only pay two bills every month -- my rent and my phone bill! I haven't bought a stamp in months and months...

I rather be in a BMW or some other german car going 200MPH where i know i will be able to keep control of the car rather than a neon which i'd probably lose it should i hit a bump in the road!
