    Extracting Vidcaps from MPGs

Anyone know of an application [shareware/freeware] that extracts frames [not all the frames--just the ones you select] from an .mpg file?

    Thanks in advance

If you just need to grab some screenshots from mpg's, try snagit. I use it and don't have any problems.

Does it allow you to pick and choose which frames to grab? also resizing frames?

              Thanks

Looks like it uses too many steps... is there a more streamlined solution?

If you have Video Factory or Vegas Video (both from Sonic Foundry), it's a snap to get high quality vidcaps at whatever resolution and format you want. That's what I use.

I like VCD Cutter the best. Point and click, it saves automatically to the directory you choose without prompting.

I have an XP professional OS. Everytime I try to extract using VCD Cutter, the program crashes. iS there a fix for this?

extracting from an mpg? Also, the interface for virtualdub is pretty hard to navigate.

But I don't want the WMP tool bar image captured as well. Just the frame. I checked out Snagit's home page and it captures entire screens.... I don't need that, just the frame.

It will just capture the frame if that is all you want. I know, as that is all I ever do.
