    New pot bill in Canada

    Well the gov't has finally introduced it...

    Heres some of the "high"lites


    ? Possession of 15 grams or less of marijuana: a fine of $150 for an adult, $100 for a youth.

    ? Possession of one gram or less of cannabis resin: a fine of $300 for an adult and $200 for a youth.

    ? Possession of 15 grams or less of marijuana or one gram or less of cannabis resin where aggravating factors exist: a fine of $400 for an adult and $250 for a youth.

    ? Possession of between 15 grams and 30 grams of marijuana: A police officer would decide if the person should receive a ticket or issue a summons for a summary conviction. The ticket fine would be $300 for an adult and $200 for a youth. The summary conviction penalty would be up to six months imprisonment and/or up to a $1,000 fine.


    They toned it down to appease the USA, and they doubled the penalties for illegally growing and trafficking pot.

                                              i agree, but it was never like that here, unless you got caught selling. will this make weed harder to get? since the sellers have to face more time now? my friend got caught with a quarter bag a few years back, all he got was a 200 dollar fine and a criminal record, i guess its better but not as good as i was hoping.

                                                  Fuck I knew a dealer who got busted driving on E and toking. Had 2 ounces of bcbud on him and was out the next day and never did time.

                                                  They'll let that asshole walk the street but put some fucking MS patient in the clink for growing windowbox.

                                                  Think fines are a better idea.

                                                          If this law passes will it be applied Canada wide in every province?

                                                          Also once the fines are in place - they will rarely give out tickets. It's like giving a ticket for jay walking.

                                                                      Correct me if I am wrong, but don't about 12 states have similar laws? I beleive it is decriminalized in 12 states.

                                                                              now when they catch me smoking a joint in the park, they won't have to think 'well this is just gonna be a big waste of my and the courts time'. Now they can just easily write me a ticket for 400$ and put it out of their head. Making persecution easier is hurting. Fuck this bill.
